Animal Rescue of Crosby County Not all homes should have a dog, but all dogs should have a home! ARCC was founded in January 2015 by a group of concerned and determined citizens.

This caring group of people came together from Lorenzo, Ralls, and Crosbyton with various backgrounds, personalities, and views, but all with the same common goal; to make a difference in the lives of the high number of discarded, neglected and unwanted pets in Crosby County. We are an all-volunteer program. We received our nonprofit 501(c)(3) status on April 28, 2015, and in early May 2015 we rec

eived a generous donation of land from friends of the rescue, Jim and Mary Parkhill. All positions held are volunteers that give their time and talents to promote our mission. As of April 2023, we have 4 volunteers caring for approximately 95 dogs. All stray and owner surrender intakes are held for the Texas mandated 72 hour surrender/stray hold before we provide any vetting (unless the dog has an emergency injury) or post the dog available for adoption. Stray intakes are held for an additional 7 days before they are posted available for adoption. Our adoption fee is $200 and covers the following;
*Heartworm/Tickborne Disease bloodwork
*Treatment and Medication if needed for Tickborne Disease
*Spay/Neuter
*Rabies vaccination
*DAPP vaccination (Distemper/Adenovirus/Parvovirus/Parainfluenza)
*Bordetella vaccination
*ProHeart6 or ProHeart12 Heartworm preventative vaccination
*Microchip

As we say goodbye to 2024 and look ahead to 2025, we want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who made this year special! Whether you donated, volunteered, or adopted one of our beloved dogs, YOU are the reason we can continue our mission.

This year brought many incredible moments for ARCC, including the joy of seeing 18 dogs find their loving, forever homes. However, 2024 was also one of the most challenging years we’ve faced. Due to limited help and an overwhelming number of stray and abandoned dogs, we had to close our intake, which meant we weren’t able to rescue as many dogs as we have in the past.

Like many rescues, we are also struggling to find adopters, and our adoptable dogs are staying with us much longer than we’d like. Every dog deserves a loving home, and we hope 2025 brings more families willing to open their hearts to our amazing rescues.

Despite these challenges, the support from our community kept us going. Here’s a look back at just a few of the amazing dogs who found their perfect families this year.

As we move into 2025, we are excited to share that this new year marks our 10th anniversary! For a decade, ARCC has been dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs in need. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we look forward to celebrating this milestone with all of you as we continue making a difference in the lives of dogs and their future families. We are planning a 10th Anniversary event so keep an eye out for more information on that!

Happy New Year! Together, let’s make 2025 an unforgettable year!

Crosbyton - we just received a message about this dog behind a corner house on Ayrshire St. The contact said she thought it might be in labor. If this is your dog, please go get her. Sadly, as we have stated over the past year, our intake is closed. We need adopters, otherwise we have zero space to put another dog. Please be responsible. There are only 4 of us and many of you. Please do something to help.

UPDATE!! DEWAYNE HAS BEEN FOUND SAFE! THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!

***COURTESY POST***
🚨URGENT!! WE RECEIVED THIS MESSAGE A FEW MINUTES AGO

Hello. I live on CR 144, north of Crosbyton. We are known to those who live out here or work out here for having a 650lb pet pig. He's my daughter's retired show pig. He's a duroc who often free roams (because most pens we have built serve only as suggestions to him). Most people know he's super friendly. His name is "Dewayne Duroc Johnson." Today, we discovered he was missing! Dewayne never leaves the yard! I wanted to reach out to see if anyone knows anything about a wandering pig or had seen him! if you hear anything, my phone number is ***-***-****. I have pictures of him as well!🚨

PLEASE REACH OUT FOR CONTACT INFO IF YOU HAVE SEEN "Dewayne Duroc Johnson"!! PLEASE SHARE!!
