Animal Rescue of Crosby County Not all homes should have a dog, but all dogs should have a home! ARCC was founded in January 2015 by a group of concerned and determined citizens.
(36)

This caring group of people came together from Lorenzo, Ralls, and Crosbyton with various backgrounds, personalities, and views, but all with the same common goal; to make a difference in the lives of the high number of discarded, neglected and unwanted pets in Crosby County. We are an all-volunteer program. We received our nonprofit 501(c)(3) status on April 28, 2015, and in early May 2015 we rec

eived a generous donation of land from friends of the rescue, Jim and Mary Parkhill. All positions held are volunteers that give their time and talents to promote our mission. As of April 2023, we have 4 volunteers caring for approximately 95 dogs. All stray and owner surrender intakes are held for the Texas mandated 72 hour surrender/stray hold before we provide any vetting (unless the dog has an emergency injury) or post the dog available for adoption. Stray intakes are held for an additional 7 days before they are posted available for adoption. Our adoption fee is $200 and covers the following;
*Heartworm/Tickborne Disease bloodwork
*Treatment and Medication if needed for Tickborne Disease
*Spay/Neuter
*Rabies vaccination
*DAPP vaccination (Distemper/Adenovirus/Parvovirus/Parainfluenza)
*Bordetella vaccination
*ProHeart6 or ProHeart12 Heartworm preventative vaccination
*Microchip

Melanie Marsh Snodgrass, Lisa Grimm Mobbs and I are each showcasing groups of our non-pit bull dogs that are available for adoption through Animal Rescue of Crosby County.

I've already shared our Moxie Ann. You can see her here:

Today, I'll be sharing our fun Nelly girl! She is one of our 5 Shar Pei/Catahoula pups that we have left. These pups were born at the kennels and turned 1 year old in May. Nelly is such a sweet, and pretty girl. She gets along with other dog friendly dogs. She is currently kenneled with Archie the heeler mix and they love to wrestle and play! I think Nelly would be good with older children. She can be a little shy until she feels comfortable with you. She has never been in a home or around cats. She would love a home with a yard so she can run and stretch her legs.

Nelly and all of our dogs are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and receive the Proheart12 Heartworm vaccination.

If you would like to meet Nelly or any of our dogs, please reach out so we can set up a meet and greet for you.

Todays spotlight is DIXIE!!!!
Dixie is a spunky, fun loving, sweet and extremely friendly heeler gal!!! She came from Slaton and is currently kenneled with her buddy Colby but she would love a home of her own! She is completely vetted and is ready to go! We recommend trial visits first with all of our dogs and we do require you have a good sturdy fence for any dog being adopted. If you would like to meet her or any of our dogs please contact us or comment below!!

The black dog in the pictures has been hanging out at a home outside of Lubbock for quite some time. The homeowners have been taking care of her and were able to get her spayed. She showed up with a couple other dogs over a year ago. Unfortunately, the other two dogs have disappeared. Now there are 3 more dogs that have showed up (likely dumped). The homeowner can't continue to care for them and would like to find them homes. If you can help, please contact us so we can get you the contact info.

This handsome guy is Rollo. He is currently being fostered by a family in Lubbock for Paw Pals of Hale Center but their rescue has closed. They are still trying to find a home for him. We are just trying to help get him some exposure to help him find a home. The foster family has had him for 3 years. He is other dog friendly, good with older children but not cat friendly. He needs a yard with a tall, sturdy fence because he can escape a yard with a short fence. He is neutered and microchipped. If you would be interested in meeting/adopting him, PM us for the contact I information. He would love a family.

We love updates! Just received this one on Maxine from her mama Hillary. Maxine was adopted from ARCC in Oct 2022. Her family recently had her DNA testing done. Most of the time, these tests are pretty straightforward and it's pretty obvious what the dog's breed is. But sometimes there are surprises. Let's just say Maxine had some surprises. 😂😂😂 Check out the last picture for Maxine's makeup.

Melanie, Lisa, and I will be highlighting adoptable dogs at ARCC, excluding our Pitbull and pit mix breeds, over the next few days and weeks. Please help us find them forever homes by sharing our posts.

My group of dogs includes; Moxie, Nelly, Paco, Rio, Tesla, and Trigg. I will be sharing their stories and information.

I'm going to start with our sweet Moxie girl today.

Moxie was found as a little pup in front of the Citizens National Bank in June of 2022. She is a young Heeler mix. She was covered in thousands of seed ticks and was suffering from a tick borne illness. I brought her home to foster her while she was recovering, she needed to take medicine to treat the tickborne disease. When she started feeling better, her personality started to shine. She became best friends with my other foster, Mero but he was adopted. She did well with my older, large dogs but not with my small dogs.

Sadly, in March 2023, I had to return Moxie to the kennels after a family emergency. Moxie does so much better in a home environment. At the kennels she is scared to death. Moxie bonds closely with one person. She loved my husband and he was attached to her too. She would be a great companion for a single person who needs someone to keep him/her company. She never bothered my cats, but I would recommend she be supervised with them since she's been at the kennels for awhile.

Moxie is completely vetted and microchipped. She just needs her perfect person to come meet her.

Contact me for more information. I'd love to set up a meet and greet for you.

Real talk. We are defeated. We are heartbroken and depressed. Adoptions are non-existent for most rescues. We can't save dogs from shelters and pounds or off the street if no one is adopting. We can't warehouse dogs. It's not healthy for these dogs. As rescuers, we are exhausted. If something doesn't change for the better soon, ARCC will not be able to remain open and we will have to make decisions about what to do with all the dogs in our care. If you are on the fence about adopting, NOW is the time to do it. We NEED YOU!

Thank you to the donor for these two bags of dog food!!!🙏🏻🐾❤️
