Had a lovely visit tonight with Danny, Elan and 🖤Goose🖤!! He’s as marvellous as I remember!! 😍 Such a big boy! I’ve not seen him in a year and boy does 10 Months make a difference! He looks just like his Momma but about 15-20 pounds bigger!! 🤩 Thanks for the visit guys! Love it when the kids come home!!

Tallulah turns 6!! Hard to believe my sweet ♥️ girl is 6 years old!! Tallulah blessed us with The Corona Six Pack and the Fabulas Five litters!! All such wonderful pups! Here’s to another year of snuggling and making everyone around you feel amazing!!
We started the day with a big walk with one of Tallulah’s favourite people, Ang! Then we did her next best favourite thing which was have a nap! We played in the backyard, had another nap. Everyone got treats and we sang Happy Birthday!

LUCY - Canada Grand Champion Blackpool Got Some Splaining To Do CGN NTD DJ DS VN SDIN SDN
Poor Lucy was out of sorts and not getting any ribbon love her first three days out at the Alberni show. However once she and Nat ( my friend and Lucy’s handler when I can’t be) turned up the heat!! Lucy was awarded her 20th and 21st point on Day 1 of the GlacierView show! Thank you to Judge Delvina Beaulac for honouring Lucy with a Select win which gave her the points for her Grand Championship title!! Day 2 and 3 she was also awarded Select by Judges Robert Denis and Terry Gains! We hope to Breed Lucy this fall! ♥️🐾♥️

I am so proud of this amazing sweet girl! Day one of the Alberni show Lizzy was awarded a Select. Thank you to Judge Judy McVeigh. Day 2 was Lizzy’s was awarded Best of Opposite. Thank you Judge Trevor Hiscock! Day 3 was Lizzy’s Big day as Golden Breeder/Judge Wendy Hamilton-Petkau awarded her Best of Opposite which put Lizzy over the 20 points needed for her Grand Championship!!
Day 1,2 and 3 of the GlacierView show; Lizzy was Best of Opposite all three days!! Thank you to Judges Delvina Beaulac, Robert Denis and Terry Gains. 5 out of 6 days Lizzy was given Best of Opposite! So proud of her!
Congratulations to Dillon 💙 - Canada Champion HWNK’s Stay Gold Ponyboy NTD who attended all three shows (Campbell River as well) and was awarded 3 Best of Breeds and 2 Select Males!
And last but not least Congratulations to Team Steel ( or Smarty Pants as his owners call him) 💙 - HWNK Camalire’s Son of a Gun!
This was Steels second time out in the show ring and he did not fail to impress! Steel was awarded Best Puppy in Group each show with 2 Best Puppy in Group. He was Best of Winners Dog 3 times!! I believe he as 8/9 points which means he will have his Championship in no time at all! Very impressive for an 11 month old pup!!
All in all it was a great time with the HWNK crew bring home some amazing outcomes!! Now we get to have a break.
We will start work in the fall on some additional sporting titles for Lizzy and with any luck some puppies by the end of the year thanks to Lucy!!
Yesterday and today was a Grand day for HWNK!
When you breed ethically and for the preservation of your breed, you always hope that each generation surpasses the last in structure, temperament and workability.
Yesterday, Lizzy beat her Mom out to the level of Grand Champion status. While Lucy was so very close (19 points and needed 20 and has trialed less this year I might add)), Lizzy took Best Of Opposite again yesterday for a total of 3 points putting her over the mark with 21 points.
The very best part is that Lizzy’s final points came by way of the very esteemed and respected Judge and Golden Breeder Wendy Hamilton-Petkau!!!
I couldn’t be more proud and it couldn’t come from better circumstance!!
Today, at the opening of the Glacier View Kennel Clubs show, while her daughter Lizzy was awarded best of opposite, three days in a row now, Lucy was awarded Select bitch, which gave her the points she required for her Grand Championship. Thank you to Natalie Garrett for handling this Momma’s girl so well for the majority of these 20+ points!! ♥️
We cannot thank judge, Delvina Beaulac, enough for recognizing both our lovely girls.

What’s better than a day in the field? A day in the field and a Barkersons delivery when we got home! This was Lizzy first water retrieve and her first swim… retrieve, in the bag; Swimming, needs some work! 🤣 #hwnk #hwnkgoldenretrievers #hwnksgoldenjubilee
It’s very important to me that my girls are sound, both from a temperament and physical point of view. I believe in the trifecta of testing, showing confirmation and trial in obedience and sport. While puppy families will often tell me that they don’t want a show dog and/or don’t plan to title their dog; which is fine, it’s important to me that I show, trial and work my dogs so that I know that I’m giving the puppies my girls produce the best chance at having a happy, sound, healthy life. I want to know that, whether our pups are beloved pets or working dogs; either way they are capable. One of the things I’ve always wanted to do and learn is field work. Golden retrievers were originally bred as gun dogs, and it really does show of their intelligence, obedience, temperament and structure. If you ever get an opportunity to watch a dog retrieve in the field, do it! It will amaze you to watch these dogs work. Through no fault of their own, my girls have not had a lot of opportunity to do fieldwork. When the opportunity presents itself, it reminds me of just how amazing these dogs are. There’s just something about a dog doing what it was bred for, watching their natural instincts come out… I’m just always amazed and feel blessed to have these beautiful dogs in my life. It’s not a great video, but it does show Lucy and I learning together, at the very beginning stages of us learning to retrieve as a team. Lizzie is coming along too but I couldn’t get a second video to post. Thank you to my friends Mary and Adrianne for all your help and support! This gives me such joy!!! These two crack me up! When Lizzy (dark golden)came along and stayed; Tallulah(light golden) took a long time to come around. Lizzy tormented her! Chewed her ears and pulled her tail and Tallulah resisted! Then, last year when Lucy went off to be bred; they only had each other. This morning, I am grateful. I am grateful for my children who support my dream of this kennel and help out with cleaning, shopping, emotional support and driving. ♥️ Mercedes Ascui, Nic Ascui, Em Ascui I am grateful for my dear friend, Julie Raddysh who came back for a second time to support me during whelping. She is also our kennels, official babysitter, when I need to get out of the house, and puppy wrangler for our professional picture day. I could not do what I do without her support. I am also so very grateful and proud to support some amazing Canadian companies who have supported my breeding program through their fabulous products and amazing customer service. A huge thank you to Coastal Raw Dog Food, PetTech Solutions - Premier Breeding Devices, Barkersons, and Mahalo Veterinary Hospital.
