Meet Max! He has been at the shelter since 04/22 and he was part of a confiscation after the owner was incarcerated. He has since then, been losing weight and it was reported recently that he had been vomiting.Max is a very friendly dog, easy to pair with others and has been introduced in playgroup with others without any issues but he prefers human company. Sadly, it appears that he has a foreign object in the stomach and will need an abdominal exploratory ASAP.

Sociability: Social. Gentle Dainty playstyle.

If ever there was a dog worthy of the title “best smile”, Thor would win that by a mile. As we all know, sometimes a smile can hide sadness. Thor has been at the shelter since January. He was surrendered by his owner when they were evicted from their housing. They attempted to take Thor with them when staying with family, but family said no. Thor ended up homeless and in a kennel. Thor is a 7-year-old senior dog and homeless is no place for him to be. We hate to see any dog without a family, but seniors really break our hearts. These dogs have already given years’ worth of unconditional love, yet end up alone.

We had an opportunity to interact with Thor and just fell in love with this jughead. Thor is a big, muscular boy. He is around 70lbs, neutered and hw+ (treatment is sponsored). He appears housebroken. When out in the yard, Thor loved snuggling up and hanging with the humans. Thor would rather hang out with people than other dogs. We don’t think that is an issue. He just needs a human who wants to give him all their love. No stinking furry siblings to share kisses, treats and toys. 😊 Thor walks well on a leash, no pulling, but he does walk quick. Thor even participated in the shelter’s speed dating program and while he loved on all the humans, his match wasn’t there. We think Thor would be amazing in a home with just humans who can commit to loving him fully. We would say no small kiddos simply due to his size.

Please help us share Thor for an amazing adopter!! Share, adopt, pledge, foster?

UPDATE 4/1: ADOPTED!!

Our family currently has three dogs at home. They are all rescues, and they are all different breeds/mixes. Much like humans, each one of our dogs has different needs, personalities and behaviors. Two of ours are what I would consider “easy” and one is “high maintenance”. It is important that as humans, we remember, that dogs don’t come in one size fits all. Even dogs of the same breed will have differences. It is important to allow each dog to be their unique self AND to expect they will be unique. It is also important to understand that different breeds do have different characteristics. For example, huskies are high energy and can escape just about anything. Rottweilers have a Rottie grumble that can sound like a growl. Labradors typically love the water. Chihuahuas love to bark 😉

Reginald , is a German Shepherd. Remember how I said one of our dogs was “high maintenance”? Well, our high maintenance dog is a German Shepherd. Because I have a lifetime of experience with dogs (mainly large breed), I was naïve enough to believe that rescuing a German Shepherd would be easy. I was wrong. I can admit that we did not use due diligence prior to bringing him home. He has taught our family so much about dog behavior and about special needs eating. We love him so much, but it has not been “easy”. However, our family committed and therefore, we chose training, special veterinary care, education, etc. It is so important to research and educate yourself prior to bringing a new dog into your life. If that dog happens to be a purebred, research their characteristics and needs.

Back to Reginald, this guy will need someone that can commit to him the same way we committed to our dogs (the easy and the high maintenance). He is 5 years old and around 70lbs. He is hw+, but his treatment is sponsored. We met him over the weekend and juts fell in love. I understand that the staff and volunteers love him as well. He is super easy to love…Reginald is an incredibly affectionate dog. He absolutely loves humans. He loves to lean on you and just relax. It goes without saying that he is showstopper in the looks department. This guy is everything you would want in a big, beautiful Shepherd. However, he does have some quirks that are often associated with the breed. Though Reginald was found as a stray running with another dog, he has been dog reactive in the shelter environment. When he is on a leash or behind a barrier, he likes to assert his dominance/protective instincts through reactivity. Back to our Shepherd, he does the same thing! Those behaviors are some of the things we have had to work on and be aware of. The person who decides to adopt Reginald will also need to be aware of these behaviors and seek guidance/training. The person who decides to adopt Reginald will need to commit. This guy deserves someone that can see through his quirks and commit to standing by him and helping him work through them. It will take time, patience, commitment and love.

Please help us share Reginald to find that person. He needs to get out of the shelter environment and into a place he can thrive. SHARE! FOSTER? ADOPT! PLEDGE!

UPDATE 03/26: Spencer has a rescue hold by Pet Rescue by Judy!! Thank you to all of you for your pledges & shares. Thank you to the rescue. As soon as we have a freedom photo we will ask you to honor your pledges.

🚨LAST CHANCE DOG🚨

Today Loved by Grace and I visited the shelter for the first time in a bit. In full transparency, I didn’t miss the overwhelming heartache I feel walking through kennels viewing dog after dog that are desperate for attention, love…a family and safe place to call home. I urge you to go visit a shelter. Even if you can’t adopt, just interact and give the babies some love & affection.

One of the babies we met was Spencer . Spencer is this week’s last chance dog. He only has until Tuesday at 6pm to have a rescue. He is listed as RESCUE ONLY.

He’s 1.5 years old and hw-. The reason he’s last chance is due to medical. Spencer has two large bladder stones and the shelter is not equipped to do the surgery.

Spencer was such a sweet boy in the interaction yard. He loves human attention. He would rather get cuddles than treats. He does appear housebroken. You can see in the pictures that he’s stretching his body - this is an indication of pain 💔Definitely from not being able to urinate.

Spencer was paired initially, but a fight occurred. He may be selective or it could be pain. Right now he’d do best with a foster that has no other pets or can keep him separated. He will need a FOSTER, PLEDGES & a RESCUE!! Please SHARE!! Let’s help get Spencer saved. http://orangecountyanimalservicesfl.net/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A542442

**If a dog is saved, we will tag the rescue and provide a freedom picture. Please do not honor any pledge that isn’t from us with those two things. Thank you!!

Good morning everyone!! In an effort to see if this page is revivable, if you see this post, please interact by liking, loving or commenting. We still show over 40 thousand followers, but trying to see how many will see this post and if it’s worth posting again.

We have been gone for awhile due to various life changes among the three of us. While we haven’t been posting, we have been helping within the community. We still sponsored veterinary care for a few dogs/cats.

Picture is Dash & Molly - two babies we assisted in veterinary care for after their Mom passed away.

🚨EMERGENT!!

This sweet girl & two others were surrendered to Orange County Animal Services by their owner (who said they weren’t the owner). Absolutely unbelievable. This girl is in the worst condition. Furever Bully Love Rescue would love to rescue her. Please consider pledging on their post. If you can foster, please message their page. Please SHARE!!

XEENA - Meet Xeena! Neglected dog would benefit from rescue placement.

Xeena, along with companions Chance and Diore, arrived at the shelter on Wednesday, November 22, right before the holiday. They received a call from a citizen stating they were found at a nearby park. When the officer responded out, he discovered in speaking with others in the neighborhood that the dogs in fact belonged to the person who reported them found. That person denies ownership. The officer was still able to cite the individual based on the conditions of the dogs.

These dogs are in rough shape and we would like to see them find placement as quickly as possible, as we know they are unlikely to thrive here. All three have been friendly with people and shared a garage space together so are assumed to be dog friendly, at least with each other.

Here are Xeena's medical notes:
VitalAge: Approx. 4 Years of Age
Gender: Intact female
Body Condition Score: BCS 1/9; Emaciated
Hydration: Dehydrated(Moderate)
Mouth, teeth, & gums: Tartar
Coat and Skin: Focal hairloss
Heartworm test: Negative
Assessment: Emaciated, Mild dermatitis of left muzzle, Fleas, Dehydrated, Mild focal hairloss, Electrolyte abnormalities secondary to BCS

🚨LAST CHANCE EUTHANASIA LIST DOG🚨

This handsome guy is Cyclone . He is RESCUE ONLY, He only has until Tuesday at 6pm to have a foster. He does have rescue interest, but they can’t help without somewhere for him to go.

Cyclone was adopted earlier this month, but returned for not liking the kitty & being mouthy (very easy to train). Cyclone is around 45lbs, neutered and hw-.

He originally entered the shelter as a stray after being found in the Winter Park area in October 2022. The shelter thinks he’s about 3 years old. He entered the shelter super friendly & puppy like. However, he was there 70+ days and started to deteriorate. He’s lost weight & he’s anxious. Everyone thought his adoption was his saving grace, but sadly it was short lived. He’s back and now euth listed. He’s sad & just paces in the kennel. The once friendly pup is now confused, depressed and his spirit is broken.

Cyclone has tested well with male & female dogs. please PLEDGE. Most importantly, please SHARE for a FOSTER. We know this is a Hail Mary, but he deserves a chance. http://orangecountyanimalservicesfl.net/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A50286

UPDATE 9/5: Sadie has been adopted. If you adopted her and follow our page, please reach out. Thank you!!

🚨URGENT - NEEDS FOSTER OR ADOPTER🚨

Meet sweet Sadie . Sadie is around 8 years old and 64lbs. She’s hw-. Sadie was brought to the shelter after her owner passed away. This sweet girl devoted her life to her human and sadly, when she needed humans most, she was abandoned with strangers. Sadie does have an issue with her eyes, but has been difficult to medicate. The shelter things she’d do better to see a full service Vet & be in a home.

Volunteers say Sadie is as sweet as can be. She loves treats. She loves the pool. She is head shy and would need slow, patient adopters or foster. Sadie has been kenneled with numerous dogs while at the shelter and has done well in playgroups. No cats, please! We would also suggest no small children due to her head shyness.

Please share this sweet girl & let’s find her a retirement home where she will be loved and safe. SHARE! PLEDGE. FOSTER? ADOPT? http://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A495108

UPDATE 8/28: Max has a rescue hold!! We will update again when he leaves the shelter tomorrow. Thank you for the pledges & shares!!

🚨EMERGENT!! NEEDS RESCUE TODAY!!🚨

This handsome good boy is Max . Max is around 7 years old and weighs 69lbs. Due to severe medical, he needs a foster/rescue today!!

Max was surrendered to the shelter by his owner. The owner states he was walking Max. He filled a water bottle with what he thought was water from an outdoor hose and the water appeared white in color. Right after drinking it, the dog starting presenting symptoms of gagging, drooling and uncontrollable urination. The owner states he can’t afford vet care.

Shelter medical notes: Assessment: BAR, BCS 3/9 thin, mucous membranes pink and moist, urine in coat on hind legs, dog did not gag or urinate during triage exam. Unknown if toxin exposure. Unknown if underlying disease. Brief heart and lung auscultation WNL. Normal ambulation.
Recommendation(s): prognosis unknown. Recommend outcome ASAP. Deadline end of day 8-28. House in ISO or clinic.

🚨LAST CHANCE EUTHANASIA LIST🚨

All across the country shelters and rescues are busting at the seams. There are too many dogs being abandoned, surrendered, neglected, etc. Sadly, that means the euthanasia lists won’t stop. More and more dogs across the country will lose their lives.

This week there are four dogs on the shelter’s euthanasia list. Three of these dogs can be adopted or rescued. One is rescue only and requires a foster/rescue. Each of these dogs only has until 6pm tomorrow. Please SHARE!! PLEDGE! FOSTER? ADOPT? The only hope these dogs have is the animal loving community.

Max is around 2 yrs and hw+ (treatment is sponsored). Max had been tossed around between “owners”. Max takes a little bit to warm up to new people. Once he does warm up, he’s a sweet boy. He loves treats and is treat driven. Mac has been dog selective. He appears to prefer the ladies. He does have a high prey drive so no small pets.
http://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A494157&pagesize=12&r=r

Kriza is a gorgeous girl, approximately 8 yrs old. Kriza has been at the shelter a few times & sadly keeps ending up back there for reasons like separation anxiety & owner in jail. This girl is as sweet as they come. She adores humans & just wants love & pets. Kriza doesn’t like storms & can have separation anxiety. Kriza does need to be an only dog, but with all the love she gives, she’ll be all you need.
http://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A467281&pagesize=12&r=r

Hazel is around 5 yrs old & hw+ (sponsored). Looking at Hazel breaks our hearts. It looks like she was likely bred several times & then dumped. Hazel can be slow to warm up (do you blame her?). Once she gets beyond her shyness, she will attach right to her human’s side. She’s the epitome of unconditional love. Hazel does need to be an only pet, but like Kriza, she will give anyone enough love to only need one dog. http://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A497168&pagesize=12&r=r

Hermes (RESCUE ONLY) is around 5 years old. He’s a Great Dane & sits at around 113lbs. Like many large dog breeds, he is not doing well at the shelter. He is showing fear aggression. He shakes in his kennel & doesn’t want to interact. Once he’s in the play yard, he is avoidant, but starts to warm up. He is treat motivated and appears to like standing in the pool. He needs a committed foster with large breed experience. The foster should be prepared to be patient and let Hermes come around on his time. Preferably the foster would have no small children or other pets. We want to make sure Hermes is set up for success. http://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A498798&pagesize=12&r=r

Please comment “done” when complete. Ty!!

Update 5/28 @ 5:11pm: The shelter said they can hold Molly tonight, but her new deadline is a hard 5pm tomorrow (5/29). Given that they are closed on Monday, they can't extend past that time.

🚨NEEDS RESCUE OR ADOPTION BY EOD TODAY🚨

Please note, we cannot monitor our page/messages today. However, we thought it important to post. If you can help Molly or any other dog, please reach out to the shelter or one of their rescue partners: http://orangecountyanimalservicesfl.net/ProgramsServices/Rescues/RescuePartners.aspx

This sweet senior girl, Molly was surrendered to the shelter by her owner. SHE IS 10 YEARS OLD!! We will never understand how people can surrender their senior dogs, sign a form stating they can be euthanized (if needed) and then walk away. Molly is around 61.0 lbs and has tested negative for heartworm disease.

Shelter notes:
She was surrendered by her owner and canot really walk well. We suspect that she has severe IVDD, has severe ataxia, is gertiatric, does not appear to be in pain, but needs placement TODAY and needs further vet care for her suspected IVDD. Please let us know if you can help!

Molly needs to be adopted or foster/rescued by the end of day TODAY!! Please SHARE! PLEDGE!! Let’s give Molly a voice and find her a retirement home.

UPDATE 5/10: Princess and Clover have both been adopted. We truly hope they are amazing adopters. Two separate people from our understanding.

🚨LAST CHANCE EUTHANASIA LIST🚨

Please read this very carefully. We will not be monitoring this post or able to screen fosters due to personal commitments; however, we wanted to give these girls an opportunity to be seen. These two girls are on the shelter’s last chance list this week. They have until Tuesday at 5pm to find an adopter or foster/rescue. If you are interested in adopting one of these beautiful girls, please visit the shelter, Orange County Animal Services. If you think you can foster, please reach out to local rescues to see if they can assist. The shelter’s rescue partners are listed here: http://orangecountyanimalservicesfl.net/ProgramsServices/Rescues/RescuePartners.aspx

Princess . She has been at the shelter for three months and sadly is being overlooked. Historically, black dogs have a harder time being noticed. When Princess does go into the interaction yard, she is very sweet & attentive. She loves treats & she knows basic commands. She has intense, but soulful eyes. Very treat motivated. She does pull very strong on a leash so she can use so work on that. Also, she does want to be the only pet in the home. She has plenty of love to give and doesn’t want to share. Princess needs a home with no small kids (due to jumping) and a fenced in yard. She’d prefer to hang out in her yard over going on walks (she is leash reactive to other dogs). This beautiful girl is deserving and can be trained and managed. She’s 3 years old, hw+ (treatment is sponsored).
https://www.facebook.com/100068838866049/posts/303019625335997/?d=n

Clover has been at the shelter since 04/25 when she was returned. Clover is around one year old, just a puppy. Clover is having a hard time at the shelter. She’s very anxious & barks frequently for long periods. She’s very friendly to humans. According to her shelter notes, she needs to be an only dog. http://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A491120

Please SHARE these girls in hopes of getting them seen. They need ADOPTERS or FOSTER/RESCUE. Please PLEDGE as well. We have to give them a chance and this community is their last hope.

UPDATE 5/18: DJ has a rescue hold. We will update when they leave the shelter!!

🚨FAMILY IN NEED OF RESCUE!!

We hadn’t planned on posting this family because we were sure a rescue would step up. Unfortunately, a few minutes ago we received a third rescue email stating they were still in need.

This stunning Momma is DJ . She’s around 3 years old and she and her 9 babies were surrendered to the shelter. DJ is on a bite quarantine, but the circumstances of the bite are unknown (we know it was minor). We wouldn’t doubt it was somehow related to someone messing with her babies. At the shelter she has been easy to handle.

The shelter is not the place for a mom and 9 nursing babies. They need out ASAP!! Please share for a FOSTER/RESCUE & PLEDGES!! 10 dogs will be a huge financial undertaking for a rescue. Let’s get this family out of the shelter & safe!!

UPDATE 5/9: Bullet has been adopted!!

📌The shelter didn’t send out a last chance euthanasia list this week, but they did mention they are overwhelmed with animals. Due to the number of animals, the shelter is having to double up kennels. The shelter mentioned three dogs that may be candidates for the next last chance list due to behavior (needing to be an only dog).

This sweet boy is Bullet . Look at all the pics….the difference between being outside in the interaction yard and then back in the kennel 💔 Bullet is just 3 years old & hw+ (treatment sponsored). This boy is energetic and loves to have fun. He can be mouthy when not stimulated. He walks really well on a leash, right up next to whoever is walking him. Bullet loves treats and attention. He would benefit from some socialization & training. He does appear a bit fearful in the kennels. The shelter states he needs to be an only dog. Due to his energy & mouthing, we’d say no small children. http://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A488722

🚨 URGENT- MUST LEAVE BY 5PM TODAY!!!

This adorable girl, Maddie , was found as a stray with major medical needs. She has a very large, ulcerated mammary mass. She needs further veterinary care ASAP. Maddie has been friendly while at the shelter. Due to the severity of the mass and extensive care she might need, she does need placement today. Please help us share Maddie for a FOSTER/RESCUE and PLEDGES. Rescues can't help without fosters!!
