I figured out how to make a hoop house frame with a wooden door that actually works and is sustainable. Basically, PVC pipe bent over raised wooden beds (which gives it height for vining plants) and secured into the frame with metal brackets (so it can withstand strong winds). I built a proper wooden door on hinges, covered it in greenhouse plastic, and now I just open and close it for ventilation...and enjoy a longer growing season all year long.

My mother-in-law moved in with us after her stroke and suddenly I'm feeding four people on my teacher's salary while she criticizes everything I cook and my husband pretends not to hear her comments about my "wasteful" grocery shopping. Been storing canned goods in boxes under our stairs for months because our tiny pantry can't hold enough food for everyone and I was embarrassed every time someone came over and saw the clutter. My neighbor has this gorgeous built-in pantry system and I kept staring at it thinking we could never afford anything like that until I realized the space under our staircase was twice as big as her actual pantry. Spent three months planning this project and teaching myself carpentry from library books while my mother-in-law told everyone I was "playing house" instead of getting a second job. Had to sell my grandmother's china on Tedooo app to buy the lumber and hardware but found this amazing woodworker on there who sold me custom drawer slides at cost when I explained my situation. My husband thought I was crazy until he saw me installing the pullout bins and suddenly he's bragging to his buddies about his wife's construction skills. Now I can store six months worth of groceries in organized sections and my mother-in-law finally stopped complaining about our "empty cupboards" though she'll never admit I did something right. Already have three neighbors asking if I'll design pantry systems for them and I'm thinking about starting a custom storage business on Tedooo app since apparently I'm better with power tools than I ever imagined.

Just started a fun DIY project today! 🛠️🌿 I built a simple frame using wood and PVC pipes right along the side of my house. It’s going to be the base for a backyard greenhouse or maybe even a tunnel trellis for climbing plants. Can’t wait to cover it and watch it transform into a cozy growing space! 🌱✨
