A juvenile bottlenose dolphin was found shot and killed on West Mae’s Beach in Cameron Parish, Louisiana on March 13, 2024. A necropsy was conducted and revealed multiple bullets throughout the body, including the brain, spinal cord, and heart.

NOAA’s Office of Law Enforcement are asking the public for help with any information related to who may have been involved in the horrific death of a young dolphin. Up to a $20,000 reward is being offered for reliable information.

Harassing, harming, killing, or feeding any marine mammal is prohibited under the Marine Mammal Protection Act.

Please contact NOAA Enforcement Hotline at (800) 853-1964 if you have any information.

In lieu of Grimm’s post blowing up, we wanted to mention that other puppies we have like Poppy, also haven’t had any interest in adoption either. No competition here with this one! Poppy is growing up in foster care and this shouldn’t even be a problem we are having but it is! She goes for her bilateral eye enucleation and spay this week and we know it’ll make her so much more comfortable. Consider giving another one of our looked over pups a home!

Current location: Fredericksburg, TX
Adoption application: https://pinkheartrescue.org/dog-adoption/

Otis and Olive were adopted from Oinking Acres back in February.

The lucky pair were adopted into a fantastic indoor home where they will never want for anything. The Griggs, are a pig power couple. Their family already consisted of 2 pigs, ages 5 and 10. The Griggs are seasoned pig parents and couldn’t wait to bring these babes home to live the good life.

Needless to say Olive and Otis have stolen their hearts and have made themselves at home. We are loving their fresh start in their forever home. At Oinking Acres we are dedicated to not only rescuing animals but finding those that are highly adoptable, excellent homes when possible.

Please cast your vote for us in the Peterman Charity Showdown if you have not already. Voting ends at 11:59 tonight. We could really use the large cash prize that is at stake!

Help us, help more animals like Otis and Olive who have so few rescue resources.

We are so humbled by and proud of how our supporters are rallying for the pigs! The playing field, all around, is an uneven one for pigs and particularly, when it comes to welfare and safe sheltering options. They don’t enjoy the same protections, considerations, grant opportunities, you name it, as their other domestic counterparts. This win is a huge deal not just for our pigs, but all pigs. Pigs deserve to be seen, helped and part of the animal welfare conversation.

We were up by 500 again earlier today but now are almost tied again. Our competitor has rapidly gained votes this afternoon and is ahead. They are gaining at least 5 to our 1 every few minutes 🤔

Please if you haven’t voted or shared please help stay in this race! It ends at 11:59 pm tomorrow. It will mean a win or a loss of a substantial amount of money….last year the 4 finalists shared $92,000. Help us stay in this!

Their blood stained the land, as they served with pride. A duty to their master, they stood side by side. From the sky, to the sea, through a vast open land, together they fought—both animal and man.

They flew through the sky, as messengers on wing dodging bombs and bullets, for salvation to bring. Their wings did strain, till their hearts near burst, they flew day and night, never fearing the worst.

They walked together midst a bomb spangled field, both dog and handler, neither one would yield. The bond and the friendships they shared through war, will live and be remembered for ever more.

Through the sand so fine, they lolloped to the fore they’re the ships of the desert, the Camel Corp. Over hills and through valleys, the line did twine as they carried their loads to the firing line.

Into combat they rode, both man and steed, through the fear of battle, they were a special breed. The mateship of horse and rider was strong made the parting in death, seem so heartless and wrong.

As beasts of burden, they were put to the test, with hearts filled with anguish, they gave their best. They died where they fell, while the others pulled on.

Are they lost in life’s story, can we still hear their song? The theatre of war—hell for animal and man whatever the cost, they cannot understand.

So remember them kindly, as you walk through life, for they too served proudly, to help make things right. 💜

This is a picture of Luke Rowles when he was 15. He saw a group of men in a garden, kicking and beating this poor fox whose mouth had been sealed shut with duct tape. Lucas went straight to them without regard to his own safety, he shouted at the men and grabbed the fox. After healing his wounds, he freed the animal. Today, Luke continues rescuing animals. The world needs more brave people like Luke, with an unconditional will to help those in need.

Our Story

Honor the Wag came about when we decided we were no longer going to work in rescue and take fosters but instead focus on our own furbabies. The very next day Doug came running out in front of our car. We had heard a dog had been dumped in our area 4 days prior. We had always worked in bulldog rescues and Doug was a bulldog...we knew God had other plans for us. We never found what we wanted in rescues, we wanted to really work with one or two dogs to build their confidence, get them what they needed, and find forever homes for them. Forever homes which were perfect for them and for their new human, so it would be a successful happily ever after story. We knew we had become Warriors of God’s Paws. We are not a rescue, all care comes from our own pockets, maybe some day we will move up to the level of fundraising. But as of now, the dogs we have taken in have come from people reaching out to us for help, and to help get the babies adopted, thus to get the word out, we developed this FB page. The name says it all, honor the wag, honoring those who love us unconditionally. We are just caring humans promoting better lives for companion animals. We also utilize information sharing, education, and when a companion animal falls into our lives, we will help find them the best forever home they could wish for and so deserve. Sometimes this also means finding them the best and appropriate rescues, who work ethically for the best of the specific breed we have taken into our care. We are following our calling! Because we believe God has placed these dogs in our care, we feel a very strong responsibility to place them in the best fit of a home we can find. They will forever be part of our family, and before we entrust them in someone’s care, we must be comfortable they would be loved and cared for as good as or better than we would love and care for them. To be considered for adoption by our babies, you must request an application by emailing [email protected] and requesting an application, unless we are working with a rescue and that information will be posted. We will review all applications. If we feel the applicant is a possibility to move to the next stage, we will contact the individual(s) for an interview, we will run background checks, speak to their vets, do home visits and if we feel it may be a good fit, we will set up a meet and greet. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Any dishonestly will automatically remove an individual from the process. All of our fur babies must live inside with the family, be fed high quality food, no choke or pronged collars, and be given proper medical care, including preventatives. A contract will be signed and if these things are not maintained we will take back control of the dog. We value God’s animals and expect anyone taking ownership of one of our babies to do the same. Thank you for following us and supporting our mission. Prayers and good energy sent to all our babies are always welcome!
