One other cause of being reactive is EXCITEMENT. My boy Ranger has been raised in an all positive training environment so the chances of him being aggressive are very small. He comes from a great breeding background too. Great temperament pedigree.

But as he grew up when people met him they did it with much excitement. So he learned to associate people with excitement and that led to him being slightly reactive. He didn't bark or snarl but he would growl a bit and LOOK overly interested, ears up, eyes focused. When he did get to meet people he was a bit fearful at first but warmed up instantly.

I just ignored his behavior. Just the other day he greeted a stranger with interest. No fear, no growl just love.

I didn't make a mountain out of a mole hill. I made humans not an issue, no big deal and let him mature and learn to take it in stride.

It's always interesting to hear dog owners talk about not wanting to use things like crates and muzzles because the dog will not like it or have a bad experience.

You can train your dog to LOVE her crate or muzzle. You can pretty much associate anything with a positive experience if you do it in a positive, rewarding way.

Ranger found a soccer ball on the road this morning so now it is the new favorite. I saw it yesterday but he didn't. Since it was still there a full day later we decided to adopt it 😂😅🤣
