Ernie, a rescued dog This page is dedicated to Ernie, a dog rescued in Sioux City Ia. Ernie found his forever home with h He was adopted three times and returned three times.

Ernie is a Cane Corso who served time as the Stud in a Puppy mill. There, he was treated like livestock, never given the love and affection every dog yearns for. In November of 2017, he was rescued from that life along with 13 other dogs. After being Vetted, he was placed into a Foster home, where he learned about the love of a human being. On his last adoption, Ernie's Foster father promised him

that if the adoption did not work out, that He would find his forever home here with his foster dad. That became reality on September 27th, 2018.

I know that I sound like a broken record, but Noah's Hope is in such desperate need of foster homes. Won't you consider saving a life?

Ernie really has become quite a talker. Or perhaps a better word is whinner.

You know Ernie dreams.
In many of Ernie's dreams he is running. You can tell because his legs move. I only hope the are sweet dreams of chasing butterflies in a field of clover.

ADOPTED

Avis is an approximately one year old female Pitbull lab mix. She weights 37 pounds, and those pounds are all energy! She loves to run and play with her foster mates especially Shaggy! She has a pure and innocent heart and loves her people. She is very smart and is learning her commands. She is crate trained and knows how to sit and lay down. Avis has met cats and she was just curious and sniffed them. Of course caution should be used. Avis is working on her potty training, so patience will be needed. Avis like to play in her wading pool and loves to play fetch. When I take Avis out to Bomgaars to walk the isles, she is very curious to all of the exciting smells. Her tail never stops wagging for she is always happy. Avis loves to cuddle and would like nothing better to crawl into bed and sleep with you. She would do best with another dog to play with, and I feel that she should have a fenced yard to run and play in. Avis is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all of her shots. Should you like to adopt Avis and give her a forever Home, you may fill out an adoption application by clicking on the link below.

Heavenly Father, I pray to you in the name of Jesus Christ asking you to calm Ernies fears of the fireworks. Let Ernie know that he is safe with me, and that I will not allow anything to hurt him.
I ask this lord in Jesus name and in Jesus name I pray,
Amen.

I had a bit of a scare last week. After walking Miya, I had chest pains, I do not remember if they started before the walk or during the walk. They did not go away, even after laying down for about half an hour. I took my blood Pressure, and it was high, but my machine did not register any abnormal heart beat. I decided to go up to Emergence Care at 7:30. They hooked me up to an EKG which did not show anything but normal, but they decided to send me to Emergency anyway. IN the Ambulance they again hooked me up to another EKG, which also showed normal.
In ER, at Mercy, they hooked me up to an EKG machine for the third time and also drew blood.
the Blood work showed normal, and the third EKG also showed a normal heartbeat. At 10:00 I went home.

I am not afraid of dying, I have complete faith in Jesus Christ, and I will go according to his time frame.
What I worry about is Ernie, and what my death would do to him. He has been through so much, and I hate the thought of what it would do to him. He depends upon me so much. He never wants to leave my side. Thinking about it breaks my heart...

I know I have posted this photo before, but you know when a dog sleeps on it's back it can mean a number of things, but one thing it always means is that the dog feels safe enough to go to sleep with the most vulnerable part of their body exposed.

I have notices over the years that when Ernie became a member of the family, his respiration while sleeping was rushed, almost at a panting speed, but now he sleeps so sound, and his breathing is no longer forced or rushed, it slow, and peaceful.

Even to this day, Ernie must be invited to get on the bed. When it is time to go to sleep, he sits by the bed, resting his head on the bed and whines. I have to invite Ernie to get up on the bed, sometimes having to do it several times before he climbs aboard.

I wish I could help him understand that it is okay.

I have not written about Ernie in a while, at least since the America's Favorite Pet contest.
I was laying on the back porch with Ernie, remembering.
I was remembering how afraid he was. How he hid behind the garbage cans, afraid to come inside the house.
Every day I would have to put a leash on him to get him to come inside.
I do not remember when we over came that fear, but we did.

Last night Shy had taken Ernie's place on the bed, so Ernie climbed aboard and laid at the foot of the bed. I heard him softly whining and bemoaning his fate, So I moved my pillow to the foot of the bed, wrapped my arms around him and we both went to sleep.

About three in the morning, I took my pillow and moved back to the head of the bed. Shy was still sleeping in Ernie's Spot. As time went by, I found myself being pushed off of the bed.
I turned on some light to see that Ernie had taken his place at the top of the bed, and on top of Shy! Shy was being squirted out toward me like toothpaste!
I moved my pillow back to the bottom of the bed and invited Shy to come down and sleep with me.
