My lovely Laurel is from Redsage Welsh Springer Spaniels. And in April 2019 she was bred to the handsome and sweet CH Redsage Legerdemain. The resulting litter comprises the first litter of Juniper Welsh Springer Spaniels. Steam trains are a constant theme in all things Laurel. My family lives in the East Bay region of Northern California. In Tilden Park, the East Bay’s largest regional park, the
Redwood Valley Railway miniature steam train (one-half scale narrow gauge) has been in continuous operation for more than 60 years. My family has worked and volunteered at this railroad for many years. All the operating locomotives have a name and number. The first and oldest steam locomotive is the Number 4, also named “Laurel.” Hence the source of Laurel’s name. There are also many bay laurel trees throughout the railroad’s property where Laurel roams freely. When it came time to name our kennel, we considered other names associated with the railroad, and fittingly landed on Juniper, which is the name of the recently restored Number 2 working locomotive, the longest running work engine on the railroad.
