Planned Feralhood is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization. EIN: 90-0875929 Presently (April 2024) we have 12 cats who we still provide for.

Initially caring for West Marin County feral cats through Trap/Neuter/Return/Feed & Monitor/Kitten Fostering & Adoption programs. We accomplished the mission of a zero feral cat population in our West Marin community after 16 years of providing these programs free of charge. In August 2018 we closed all those programs, and turned our focus to the shelter and care of 47 cats whom were in sanctuary

with us at that time. We are committed to their lifetime care, and provide hospice and burial for them when the time comes. These are cats who have been deemed unadoptable for reasons of behavioral issues or special needs. They are cared for by Kathy Runnion, our Executive Director and Chief Volunteer, at her rental home in Point Reyes Station. She takes no wage and performs all duties, including fundraising to provide the cats with food, shelter, and veterinary care.

"Veterinarians at private equity-owned practices have reported being overworked and pressured to upsell patients on expensive tests and procedures. At some practices, corporate managers require clinicians to meet demanding quotas for certain procedures, tying their income to the amount of revenue that they generate.

Private equity firms have also raised the cost of veterinary services, exploiting consumers’ love for their pets to make a profit. Since 2014, prices for veterinary services have risen by 60%, with prices well over $300 per visit."
