Ahhhhhhhhhh Aslan and Lada used to sleep just like this! Aslan was cream colored and Anneke looks remarkably like Lada. My heart!!!

Adela showed signs of a UTI so we took her to the vet yesterday, and they took her to the back to get a urine sample and she peed in the carrier during the walk there! They kept her all day and they did get a sample on the tabletop that they were able to use. Poor girl could not take everyone squeezing her bladder. The very sweet vet tech tried to clean her up and put enzymatic spray on her and she's smelled like air freshener since 🤮. I wiped her down with a damp towel yesterday but gave her a bath today. She was not happy about it but at least there's only a faint smell now.

This is Adela's second week of medication and she's feeling much better and wouldn't drink water from Dad's hand. She wanted real food, but she's supposed to be fasted for the medicine to be effective! Dad gave her a bit of the favorite tuna prescription diet watered down a lot but she wanted the real thing. It was stressful to try to get her to drink, but we managed enough. We ended up giving the cats food 10 minutes early (supposed to be 30 minutes fast after pill) because they were all going crazy, and we'll try a different strategy next week that doesn't involve opening a can when they're starving.

Next week we'll try to prepare a watered down Churu soup since it's so flavorful, and hopefully she'll drink that. After being active all morning, she's down for a nap now!

Adela is feeling better after getting her first dose of medication and is eating a ton!! She's already heavier when I pick her up. Hopefully she doesn't overdo it because she has the habit of eating all of her sisters' food as well 😹

It looks like Adela doesn't have cancer but has a condition that causes high calcium, and she'll need to be on weekly medication and maybe special food for the rest of her life. The medication needed to be fasted and it means that all three cats got fasted and were very hungry this morning. Adela was very easy with her first pill and the vet said to follow it with a syringe of 5mL of water (that's a lot!) because if it gets stuck in her throat it can cause ulcers. Thankfully our baby girl is obsessed with drinking water so dad put water in his cupped hands and she drank a lot of it. With any other cat it would have been scratching and clawing and trauma all around to get that water down. Dad has been hand feeding Adela and really encouraging her to eat one bite at a time, and she's put back on a bit of weight already. Hopefully she'll be back to normal in the next month or so!
