The 5 Second Rule
If you cannot comfortably hold your hand on the surface your dog will be walking on for 5 seconds, don't ask them to walk on it for longer than that.
Consider testing asphalt, cement, dirt trails, rubber trails, metal grates.
Choose instead grassy shady areas or wait for a different time of day. Alternatively, you can find some fun training activities to do indoors to wear out their brain.
