Sad this had to be posted.

Folks, unfortunately we need to have a conversation about manners and appropriate behaviour towards our front desk staff. It seems some of our clients need a reminder.

Our staff is not here for your abuse. Full stop. They have a difficult job and it is significantly more so when they are forced to stop what they are doing to deal with rude, entitled, abrasive or verbally abusive clients.

Dealing with this type of behaviour takes time, energy and resources. It helps no one and changes nothing - whatever it is that caused the outburst is going to remain exactly the same.

There are human beings on the other end of your tirade - human beings who have continued to show up despite extreme staff shortages and overwork. Verbal abuse simply makes things worse and will not be tolerated in any form.

So please remember your manners when you speak to our staff. They deserve your respect.

UPDATE: MARLEY HAS BEEN PLACED ♥️ He will be leaving our custody on Monday to start his new life! Thank you everyone

We are looking for a very special home for our two year old boy named Marley. Marley is not doing well at the shelter. He is VERY scared of new people and completely out of his element.

Marley was surrendered to us because the family traveled too much and he “cannot be controlled”s while we aren’t quite sure how uncontrollable Marley is, we haven’t seen that side of him as of yet. He walks decently on the leash. He needs more training as he likes to pull. He clings to your legs and likes to lean against you for reassurance. He seems to be housebroken while at the shelter, but it’s hard to be certain unfortunately. We are sure he is going to need guidance and patience as he transitions into a new home.

Marley is good with other dogs according to his previous owner, but we will REQUIRE a meet and greet before he leaves the shelter. He has not been tested with cats.

Marley LOVES kids, perhaps a little too much! Older kids would be ideal as Marley does not know his size and jumps on small children. His favorite game is playing with the ball and could play for hours!

The ideal home would be a family who either own shepherds of have owned shepherds in the past. This is a special breed and they thrive off training and family. A fenced in back yard would work best for him so he can run and play whenever he feels like. Marley deserves to be an indoor dog even though all he knows is the great outdoors.

Please note, we are holding Marley at the shelter until he is neutered and vaccinated. We will contact the applicants threat we believe is a good fit for him.

Hilda's pleading eyes are just begging for a new family! She is 8 years old, super laid back, and hoping to find a calm home where she can acclimate at her own pace. Hilda is very affectionate and would love to spend the day being lazy with you! She is such a silly girl - she loves her cat beds and will flip them upside down to make herself a house. All you'll see is her adorable little nose sticking out! A quiet, mellow environment would be perfect for our 8 year old sweetie so she can enjoy her golden years in comfort.

We are just overwhelmed with calls from people who want to move nest for birds. Also Birds found in parking lots who are protecting nests. Here is a little bit of information on how we handle these calls and why.

Some of this was previously posted in our Mallard nesting post but it also applies to geese as well.

Ducks are less obvious because the males do not stay with the females and the females hide in their little nesting spot and hope that you don't notice them. All waterfowl build their nest in a location after observing the traffic and noise in the area. They are OK with the traffic and noise in the area or else they wouldn't build their nest there. Just because it may be noisy or because people are walking or playing around and Nest area does not mean that it needs to be moved. Please encourage people just to ignore the nest.

Once a bird has laid eggs into a nest it is illegal under the migratory bird treaty act for you to touch or move the nest or the eggs. We have very strict guidelines to where we can take eggs or birds in and they have to be injured or abandoned. If the nest is just inconvenient for you they do not allow us to move in those situations. The birds hatch their young and leave the nest immediately so they won't be there very long.

Birds scope out a plan to get babies to a water source before they make their nest. Babies hatch with the ability to go 24 to 48 hours without eating or drinking so that they can get to the pond and find food. Mother Nature is pretty incredible all of this is planned out and it works very well. We have a very healthy population of mallards and Canada geese in the area which goes to show you that they are reproducing quite well on their own without our interference.

Many Canada geese choose mall parking lots. They prefer the human activity because it cuts down on Predator activity. mom finds a good spot to hide while the dad stands guard a good bit of distance away from the nest. Dad will wait to hear from Mom if anyone comes close to her nest otherwise he's basically sitting outside the delivery room waiting for news that his babies are born. We've had so many calls from people wanting to move these dads out of the parking lot. While it is not an ideal situation dad needs to stay with Mom, his mate that he has chosen for life, and his children. Unfortunately we cannot relocate, legally, the geese in the parking lot unless they become injured.

We get calls every year about the same geese in the same parking lots and some of them have nested there for 5 or 6 years and they have done quite well surviving and raising their babies. Our rescue does not have the capacity, the volunteers or the resources to relocate every goose who is nesting in the Charlotte area. We focus our attention on birds that are injured or are in an immediate danger such as trying to cross a busy freeway or nesting on a roof that babies will not be able to get off of Once they hatch

It is heartwarming to know so many people care about the welfare of these geese. We just want to make sure everybody understands the laws and how Goose nesting Behavior works.

FOSTER NEEDED

This is a unique case. 2yo Great Pyrenees just had puppies. (Puppies are 8 weeks old and all spoken for.) EDIT: Momma dog has snapped at unaltered male dog in house and her pups (not any human kids) - and now the owner wants to have her euthanized. (I REALLY CANNOT STAND SOME HUMANS.)

Momma dog does NOT have a current rabies vax, so that is a consideration. Anyone out there willing to give this dog a soft landing, until she can be transferred to rescue or adopted? EDIT: She DOES NOT have a rescue commit yet. If you have a rescue connection, please tag them!

We must find a new farm by the end of April. The farm we have been leasing for the past 6 years is under contract and we have 90 days to vacate with our 7 horses

If you know of anyone that might be interested in leasing to a small, no drama group of hard-working horse rescuers please let me know.
