Got Phoebe out of the car and set her in the yard, got Elijah out and told him to run up and knock on the door while I was unloading our stuff and he took off. Then I said “wait come get Phoebe,” IDK why, we’ve never done that before. I didn’t know what he’d do, but he ran back and SO GENTLY took her hand and SO SLOWLY walked with her all the way up to the door. She fell once and he waited. And she went with him so trustingly, not even a backwards glance for Mommy. They do cute sibling stuff all the time but “you can’t just push your sister out of your way” is also a frequent phrase around here, but this made me feel like they’re gonna be Okay <3
Phoebe and I are digging in the dirt in our pajamas while the boys are still sleeping. Shabbat shalom :)
Welcome to Jubilee Farm, where pants are optional but Carhartt coats and cowboy boots sure aren’t.
(I put his boots on to run outside really quick to feed, but he felt two raindrops and ran back inside, pointing to the top of his head, to get his coat. Cause he’s a little Texas boy and doesn’t know what rain is.)
I’ve started sending Elijah outside by himself and I feel like the second half of my life has begun.
I guess not completely by himself, because I always lock the yard gates, walk around and check for snakes, and then let Ellie out to watch him. He knows he’s not allowed in the feed room or cellar, so he and Ellie play in the dirt and come in to say hi to me every 2.5 minutes. Or do something that’s not the intended use for the thing, like the video. Watching him grow is so much fun ❤️
