Why we recommend not spaying or neutering before a year old, preferably 18 mos or older. Though this lists frmale Bostons as "ok" to spay at six mos and later (males 12+ mos), the research in this article should be compelling enough to cause owners to wait. Certain cancers are at higher risk, joint problems are more prevalent. Their hormones are needed for closing growth plates among other things. Original article below, link to attached chart below.
