Which other horses have completed Burghley XC five times or more ? There can’t be that many ?

13 Years ago I had the honour of competing at my first Burghley.

Lukey was only 9 years old and 15.2 stood on tip toes. We had only had one long format 3star (now four star) between us.

Its about knowing your horse and the partnership you have with them. We were going to be last after dressage at 4 Star or 5 Star but he was a true Burghley horse and thrives on the challenges. I’m not sure there are many horses that have jumped round 5 times.

He was a machine and made it feel easy. I Don’t think I really appreciate what we achieved. Some of the toughest terrain and fences in the world. He took me round 5 times before he was cruelly taken from us by colic.

He will be looking down on everyone this year.

It really is a magical event. I wish all this years competitors the best of luck and I hope they enjoy every moment. Making memories that last for a lifetime.

Looking for a Junior Team horse for a teenage girl coming off ponies. Either a younger horse with good novice form, older horse that’s been there done it or somthing that has SJ.

Hi Guys it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on here. We have just marked 4 years since losing Lukey. But on a more positive note I’m sure Lukey was looking down on me the day I first set eyes on baby Higgs. Well a picture of him anyway ! It was love at first site and it was ment to be. He’s the kindest most naturally gifted horse I have ever met. He’s recently been graded and licensed by Breeders Elite Stud book and is available to the public for fresh and chilled semen He is the ONLY available son of Osmium. He finds life so easy he probably won’t do much more ridden work this year, he will return to the field for the rest of the year with Lukey’s best friend Louis so he can just be a horse !
