This past year, I rested, paused, slowed way...way...down. More than ever before.
In all these years, from being a young mother, to balancing work-life as a working mom to then chasing a passion with teenagers in tow - juggling multiple roles, chasing deadlines and pushing beyond my threshold on most days had become a norm and I hadn't realized how much I needed this!
It didn't start deliberately, it just happened. I took more naps, guilt-free(that’s the operative word). I found myself resisting any form of rushing, over-doing or over-extending of myself. I didn't seek-out or take-on anything voluntarily.
It was the year of Ease & Flow and therefore I thought it was somehow an unproductive year.
So I scrolled through my camera roll to review my "unproductive" year, and I am pleasantly surprised at the amazing things I got to experience last year!
✈️ I had travelled the most number of times this past year - 8 months out of 12, I had travelled out of town on business and pleasure!
📘My book saw a huge success with 100+ reviews, book signing events, author talks, panel discussions and cherry-on-the-top being Longlisted for not one but two prestigious Book awards.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦As a family it was a fulfilling year too as we got to spend more time with our kids -9 months out of 12 we got together as a family and what a blessing it is. My little birdies are expanding their horizons, learning to navigate this world and getting stronger and secure by the day. I am so proud of them and of myself as a parent.
👩‍❤️‍👨As a couple we had grown too, loving our travels, exploring new places, nurturing interests, focusing on our fitness goals together and supporting each other in becoming our better versions.
🌿It was the most profound growth phase for my business too.
🎉I see numerous celebrations, ample travel, big smiles, huge accomplishments, major milestones, learnings and aha moments. Grateful 💫

That was 2024. Not less by any measure. Instead it was more...
Less doing, more being.
Less outward, more inward.
Less noise, more presence.
More intention. More living...✨️

If you thought it wasn't your year, think again.
Sending love ❤️

Something exciting is brewing...

Lately, I've been sharing more of my author avatar than my farmer avatar. Though I know you are here to follow my farm dream, this too is an important milestone in my journey as a farmer because the book distills the essence of all that this farmer dreamt of years before it became a reality. And therefore, it's important to share this side of my story as well.

I have come a long, loonngg way since the day on a crisp December morning when I started documenting my farm journey here. I had no idea what was in-store.

Social media isn't what it used to be. You see, I came on this platform before the term "content creator" was coined. The competition seems fierce to stay relevant with the deluge of content on any social media platform but you know by now that I am not about that. My sole purpose is to share a more grounded and intentional lifestyle that's rooted in connecting with earth. The frenzy is the opposite of what I intend to promote through my content.
I thank you for being with me partaking in all my high-highs and low-lows.

Today I am excited to share with you that "Kalpavriksha Farms" is undergoing some major changes as we speak. From the website, to the outlook and offerings, there is lot of thought being put into revamping it. I will reveal the new look shortly.

Like all things in creation, it's time for renewal of Kalpavriksha Farms and I'm absolutely jazzed about it.
Soon, it will be a new season, new harvest, new stories, some fresh content, pretty farmhouse decor, a new and improved user experience on our learning content and resources on our website.
Stay tuned for more...✨️

One fine day, it occurred to me that life must be lived passionately, creatively, wildly and beautifully. For this one precious life we get to live, nothing less than that would do. Probably it was around the time when I felt called or rather pulled towards the adventure that I abjectly refer to as my organic farming journey.

It’s probably also why I spent the last six years building gardens, reconnecting with earth, setting-up our farm house, starting a business, writing a book and furiously learning and exploring my own relationship with life itself!

Why do all this?

Each season, each morsel of food I grew, each experience, each new adventure was probably just another opportunity to infuse vibrancy into life!

I have since then given up on this absolutely useless ideology of choosing this or that, either/or. I don't want to choose.
I want this And that. I want all.

I want to be home...ahh how I love being at home, but I also want to travel the world till my shoes wear out. I want to be Here and also there, and everywhere.

I want to farm and get my hands muddy but I also want to walk the red carpet! I mean, why the hell not, right? Right.

This perspective has been solidified by many things, but mostly through life experience itself. It's become more about how I spend my time, how I enrich my relationship with myself and others, how I bring more meaning to my work, how I seek and stand firm in my truth.

In all of this, it has also been about practicing courage, trusting myself, listening to my heart, seeking beauty, expanding my capacity to learn, love, grow, and break-loose of cultural norms that suffocate; embrace new ways of being and thriving in what we call "this one glorious life."
Living with intentionality...
This is where I am at and it's beautiful!

Enjoying life deeply these days...
A different kind of savouring
of every moment,
ordinary or otherwise
A keen noticing
And catching it by its tail
before it can escape
through the sieves
of perceived important things
Riding high
With arms wide open
Heart soaring
Mind free of cobwebs
Spirit alive...

After what seemed like forever
Realizing that
this feeling of ease
is indeed something I can cultivate
on my own,
Just like how I choose to grow
what I enjoy in my garden

The breath is light,
Weightless,
like a dandelion fluff
Flowing in and out
in perfect communion
with the alveolar cells
The whole body in harmony
A peace like never before

This knowing
of well-being of self and the world
With a surety I never quite knew
A sense of wellness
with faith resurrected
in the natural order of life
The leaves that fell
Are back in business
Nourishing the soil
Integrating
Becoming the life force
that sustains the tree

I'm awash with gratitude
and love for life itself
And Iove for this newness
Of being

Once stuck in survival mode
With spirit ravaged
Constantly at war with self
Always girdled to fight
Fear clutching
its tight grip suffocating
With every attempt to escape
The whispers returned-
Beware, dreadful dungeons await,
it said
Reining me into submission to fear

Many a happy moments wasted
Crippled in fear
Those moments,
However joyous,
fleeting, dissipating
as quickly as they appeared
Staying guarded,
armoured-up and cautious
Not to allow joy to creep-in
Had become a way of life

Then, in the warmth of
the golden autumn
the veil of ignorance lifted
the absurdity struck
A deep ache filled-in
for all those lost moments
when joy could have been had
It could have stayed longer
Little longer
Had tea
Hummed a song
permeated into every cell
blossomed into rapturous bliss
Like now...
Like in every moment
now, now and now.

This was just a week before
Sharing this here as a reminder for what this space feels like to me, before I can share the after-effects of the cyclone. My heart only wants to capture the "good feeling moments" spent on my farm. But then there are some unsavoury elements that needs to be shared too...I will...soon.

In the meantime I will linger here...in these moments...just a little while longer...
Bask with me, with you?

The background score from the movie re-ignited by the soulful movie seemed apt for this video clip. Don't you think!

I lived in Delhi during my high-school days and finished my schooling from K.V. No.1, Delhi Cantt. The memories of living in the cantonment, waking up to the early morning roll-calls and parade practice, the winters waiting to board army trucks to our school, the lifestyle...The memories lingered.

I was at Delhi for the event and was leaving the next day. My flight was at 12:15 pm and the airport being a long drive away we decided to check-out early and have breakfast on the way, in time to board the flight. All planned & packed the previous night, that same niggling, nostalgic thought returned...that thought that always presented itself when I visited Delhi - Can I? No, no, where's the time? Making it to the airport on-time in the morning traffic is in itself a challenge! Absolutely no way! Stop thinking about it. Somewhere during this thought loop, I guess I blurted it out to Mani. And he quickly looked up on google maps and announced that it can be done. What! Really!

My dad was posted in "505 Army Base Workshop" at that time and I was about to visit that part of the city after about 30 years...I had butterflies in my stomach, excitement and nervousness. How will I feel? What if it had completely changed? Will the imagery match with my memories of the place? And the next morning we rolled down the familiar roads. My eyes glued to the scenery around, catching every movement, every sign board, every tanker, every army vehicle, every soldier on bike, jeep or on foot...I didn't want to miss anything. And then I saw it - the heavily guarded, high security iron gates! My heart fluttered...I asked the driver to pull-over. I stepped out with trepidation waiting for a soldier to stop me anytime from proceeding further. But it was very much within the civilian area, so I could stand from afar and gaze to my heart's content. I visited my school next and presented my story and pleaded to the security guard to allow me to step in for a few minutes. Seemed like I had left a part of my childhood behind in Delhi...With caution I clicked a few pictures and slowly we made our way out of those precious roads - mere bachpan ki woh sadaken! मेरे बचपन की वो सडकें, अलविदा ।

After a whirlwind 2 days at in Delhi, I wanted a moment to reflect on what these medals meant to me. Indeed what an honour and privilege! But what else? I still remember the first email that dropped in my inbox, sometime in the month of April 2019 and I replied that I haven't done enough to deserve the silver medal of honour. It took some convincing and a few more mails... From that first email to this day in 2024, I recall how my journey has evolved over the course. My evolution as a person, the journey in my field of work, my mission, vision, and goals have expanded and evolved tremendously. What I envisioned then is nothing compared to what I look forward to now. The clarity of thoughts and ideas and the inspired actions to create lasting positive impact, is so much more potent and drives me forward with more conviction than ever before.

I know now that these awards are not just recognitions for what little I have done, but are prompts asking me- what more can you do?

Thank you and for creating this impactful platform to not just prode us and push us but for believing in us and showing us what more we are capable of. This platform recognises the hero within everyone and believes that together we can right every wrong!

Different fields, different causes but one mission - to make the world a better, just and fair place for all of us.

To all my fellow I learn so much from you and take courage from you. Let's do this!
Immense gratitude!

You know how they say a place is made by the people in it and not just by the physical space...well, Delhi feels like second home to me just because of the people in it. It's and her family... you make Delhi of my nostalgic childhood so much more meaningful. (The AQI be damned 😜) Your love, kindness and generosity will stay with me forever! So blessed to have your friendship 💓

It's and It's (missed you this time) and now and many more slowly adding to the list.
That's Delhi for me!

Thank you Piyusha, you are a big heart enveloping me in your warmth like सर्दी की नर्म धूप...I'm still basking in it...
No words for how you made me feel. Love you loads ❤️
