Welcome fellow Pittie Parents! SDPP is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on community outreach, education, and socialization of local pit bulls, bully mixes, and their owners. Together our mission is to end the negative stigma of Pit Bulls and bully breeds by promoting the PAWSitive side of this misunderstood breed. We focus on strengthening the bond between you and your dog to help create
a path toward successful Pit Bull Parenting! We are a community-driven educational outreach program made up of by like-minded RESPONSIBLE pet parents and citizens of the community. We are dedicated to creating a united front of Pit Bull Ambassadors regardless of background, breed, or rescue affiliation. We organize outings for members on a regular basis (2-3 events per month) and help create a pit bull-friendly environment for socialization, training, and networking with other Pittie Parents. Some of our events include:
-Leash & Learn Events
-Pack Walks & Nature Hikes
-Fundraising Events
-Yappy Hours
-Surf Clinics
-Pot Lucks
-Annual "Pitties in the Park" Event
We support several local bully rescues however do not affiliate with one single group above another. Our members understand that their pet is a LIFETIME commitment and we do not post information about dogs who need to be re-homed. Understandably there are circumstances that arise when a family can no longer keep a pet, or maybe you’re looking to add to your pit-friendly household. If so, please reach out to us and we can offer contacts for local rescue groups and organizations that may be able to help. One of our core beliefs is the vital need to spay and neuter our pets. San Diego shelters are overrun by the homeless pet epidemic, in order to help relieve the overpopulation of homeless dogs and to educate our family and friends, we fully support the necessary spay and neutering of all pets. If you would like more information on how to get your dog spayed or neutered at low cost, or possibly for free, contact Animal Welfare Foundation or San Diego Humane Society. We DO NOT support breeding of any kind and will ban any member who advertises the breeding, selling, or fighting of dogs. We ask that all members actively participate - we are always open to ideas for new local events, so please get involved! We have plans to begin community-based educationally-driven outreach programs like hands-on training with kids, providing dog food and vet care for the homeless, building gift baskets for shelter dogs, facilitating fundraisers for local rescue groups and charities, and so much more! Founded in February 2015, this group started when two local pit bull moms decided to create a unified front of responsible pit bull owners in their community. Kristin Porter and her pack (Unlikely Trio) and Jolene Figueroa (mom to Rocky and Manders and Hercules) have volunteered in the bully breed rescue community for several years. Their ultimate unwavering passion for all things bully have allowed them to follow their true calling and create this wonderful family of San Diego Pittie Parents. EMAIL: [email protected]
