High prey drive + ball + proper training = focused and balanced dog.

Congrats to Buster, his siblings and of course the star of the show: their owner, Brandi.
She finished four months of intensive dog training for not one, not two, but four dogs.
Four dogs with very different training approaches to fit the personality, breed and behavioral problems.

Can’t wait to hear all the fun places and things you get to share with your big and fulfilled pack.

Roxy’s board & train completed with a special bonus— She gained a brother.

Anika ( ) suffered a tragic loss with Bear crossing the rainbow bridge unexpectedly.

Cloud was surrendered from Stephan (personal/living issues) that resulted in him temporarily joining as a company K9.

The notion of Cloud joining Anika’s family was contingent on accepting his new handler.

In between working Roxy— Anika handled Cloud.
Anika & Cloud really hit it off.
He challenged her, but she met his standards.

Two unforeseen and unrelated circumstances allowed for a beautiful bond between K9 and handler.

Cloud will no longer strive for gun-dog, he will enjoy life as an adventure companion. Feel free to follow their adventures!

In no way is Cloud meant to replace Bear.

As I work with Tyr more, I catch myself missing Gambit all over again.
He’s learning so well and the animals are warming up and trusting him.
He’s stopped chasing the quail and herding the ducks.
He follows me around the perimeter so that he learns and does this out of habit as he matures.
He lays afar and chills watching over the flocks.
He proudly vocalizes and warns any of the pack that gets too close to the stables.
For such a small thing his courage is astonishing.
His breeder did amazing with this pup.

All I can think is— Tyr and Gambit would’ve made such a damn dynamic duo…
As Tyr gets slightly older I’ll be adding more animals to the ranch like I originally planned.

GINO (m), 1.5 year Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

He was an absolute joy to train.
I actually miss this little adorable boy.

He jumped on his elderly owner, he weaved between her legs, pulled on leash, and chased cats.

He now walks beside her (with or without a walker), self corrects to not walk ahead, stops and looks at her, waits in place, loves his crate, no longer weaves or jumps on her, he waits at thresholds, & maintains focus at any given point.

You wouldn’t know this little guy still has plenty of puppy energy, he stays calm and collected.

Second immortalization of Gambit…

I’ve been stuck for years on what I felt defined us.
Our growing following asked for our gear and nothing ever felt right.
The idea and direction was there but it didn’t “click”…
On the worst circumstances… that idea finally clicked…

Gambit will now be the face of our merchandise & dog training mascot.
From the pack embodied to the core of my training.
I’ve always advocated for abuse, it wasn’t until Gambit came to our lives that it became so much more profound.

“He looks healthy”, of course he did— he was safe and found his home; however, the outside hid his inner pain and suffering, but there were visible scars…
Despite what Gambit went through, he learned to love and trust again.
He took what he learned and instinctively protected the weak.

Gambit has rehomed countless strays that found our doorstep and helped train so many more.
His story will echo and be the shield for dogs around the world.

All proceeds of our merchandise will be donated to “Dogs Deserve Better: Nashville”, the rescue that I worked with personally.
It was the first rescue that put every penny into those rescued dogs in hopes they learn to love and trust again.
From vet bills to foster needs, no adoption fee.
They covered everything!
I was shocked and honored to work with them.
After all, Timber found his home with us..

Merchandise is not ready yet, but I wanted to let you all know that his legacy, his story, and his protection will continue on.
Through the dogs we train and the funds allocated to an amazing rescue.
I can’t wait to see Gambit go global— he truly will be The Protector.

To all the abusers out there: Gambit is coming…

Thank you for the surprise Jenny .eyes.design — you truly amazed me with this one.

Gambit’s first immortalization begins with his absolute perfected sit pretty.
I had to keep increasing the difficulty of this to satisfy him. He could do anything and everything while executing it flawlessly. There would be some derpy ones as he got very excited doing it but it always was perfect.

I was saving this one for later but Hulk and Timber today wouldn’t stop doing it.. so following their lead (they knew best) today was for this.

So please join us in remembering this beautiful and perfect soul. As you and your dogs journey through life and adventure please do a sit pretty on his behalf. The simple, goofy and even velociraptor ones. They don’t have to be perfect. I just wanna see all your beautiful babies doing the trick that Gambit loved to do!

I’ll be sharing and following along the hashtag. Thank you!

Be free Gambit…

On December 12th during a harsh thunderstorm, Gambit was in the stables with the two blonde goats. They were in their designated stalls with one injured.

That night, Gambit and the goats were unaware of the nightmare to come…
A pack of coyotes attacked Gambit and devoured the goats, leaving only head and legs…
Gambit was left beaten but alive, this gruesome attack would change him forever…

Gambit suffered from PTSD, a debilitating mental illness that he acquired from his first year.
This illness consumed Gambit.
Gambit could no longer distinguish friend from foe.

The chickens and ducks he raised now fear him for his fangs turned to them.
The cats he snuggled to now hiss and claw at him for his fangs turned to them too.
The pack that once loved and protected him turned their backs on him for his fangs turned to Athena.
His bark used for alerts of threats or strangers now continue endlessly.

He was a shell of his former self.
He was risk to himself and the ranch.

The hardest decision was made.

Gambit was set free, where he knows no pain, no loneliness, but only happiness and joy.
He joins the goats, the ducks, the chickens, and our beloved Tali once more.
His ashes were spread on the ridge line that he played and hiked daily.
The wind will continue to carry him high to places that I can no longer.

In the comments, I ask that you share a favorite memory, trait, or story of Gambit.
Regardless if you’ve met him in person or not.
You all were apart of his journey!
Each comment will be “autographed” into his “yearbook”.

Special thank you to Jenny .eyes.design for this perfect illustration of Gambit.
Thank you to my girls for supporting me and constantly cheering for Gambit during his recovery…

Rider goes home Tuesday!

He’s learned a solid routine & commands.
I’d love for him to stay or come back for further training and cleaning up some of his old habits but overall he’s leagues different from when he first arrived. He wanted to call the shots (vocally mind you). Now he waits and chills out until training/play time. He won’t dislocate your arm while on leash anymore haha! He’s neutral to other humans (was overly friendly).

All in all we’re going to miss Rider boi.

Merry Christmas!

It’s my birthday 🥳
Gambit’s birthday was the 22nd and he’s officially 3 years young.
Just look at him in this photo. The focus is so strong. LOL

As many of you have been following along— Gambit got jumped by the coyote pack that devoured my two blonde goats two weeks ago.

Since then his injuries are healed (I swear by this ointment I’ll link in my stories) and liquid bandage. His mental state was very much in question and it still is. He’s gotten more clingy but luckily he isn’t cowering against the cattle (which he wants to herd — major plus). His confidence is nothing like it was before but he seems to want to get better. He’s not as goofy as he used to be — he’s gotten agitated more easily — his focus on me is super high which I’m glad but it also means he won’t eat his meals unless I sit with him THE WHOLE TIME. So he has a lot to go to recover from the attack but he is wanting to get better (which I really feared he wouldn’t because he tends to sulk far too much!)

Here’s to wishing my boy gets stronger than he’s ever gotten as he tackles his 3rd year of life! Hopeful for no more traumas— 3 is good enough 🥺😭

Peep Taz, she wants to be part of the cool kids too so we added her in 🤗

Regretting not adding the cats to this group shot. The cattle in the far right were NOT happy we were there. I had set up on a better location (literally where they are) on a BIG flat rock, then one of the red mommies was not having it and started walking towards us very cautiously (the warning before charging)…. The dogs began the stare down and I just didn’t wanna risk so we slowly walked backwards to this location. Which was far more calming even though they kept eyes on us 😅
Never met more rude cattle in my life but I see why they big and happy 😃
