A day in the life of 4 day old Monty. Drink the milk, listen to my moms tell me I’m cute, take my naps under the heat lamp, run around the house, practice going potty in the litter box, use my teeth on everything, scare the cats, tell my moms it’s time for more milk. Repeat every hour. Oh Monty, we are exhausted already. 😂
If you didn’t see our post yesterday, Monty, was found by sanctuary vet, Dr. Burggren, while doing a welfare check on a property. Monty’s sibling was dead in the mud next to him. Thankfully he was surrendered and while we work to help the rest of the pigs there, little Monty needs your help. Monty is drinking A LOT of milk everyday, his infection in his eye is healing, but life this young is fragile.
Monty has been feeling much better now that he’s been on antibiotics for a few days. His favorite toy is Kate’s childhood monkey who both offers Monty friendship and comfort.
Orphaned piglets have a rare chance of survival but Monty is doing well with the round the clock care he receives. If you can believe it, it takes more time to care for Monty everyday than all of the animals at the sanctuary combined. This little dude means the world to us so we’re going to do everything possible to give Monty the life his siblings couldn’t have. 💛💛
Little Monty loves the belly rubs. You can hear his happy little pig grunts.
Monty has been venturing outside with us. He’s met the Turkeys, the Gottingen girls, and the cats. Everyone is terrified of little Monty. 😂
Now that Monty is feeling better he’s eating well and growing fast. He’s going to be all grown up before we know it.
Monty is doing well. He’s playing a lot more than his first few days here. He LOVES running towards the cats who are just absolutely terrified of him.
His new favorite game is to push things around the house with his snout. Someone is always here watching him so he can’t get into too much trouble. 💛💛
Monty is growing up fast. Monty is now 5 weeks old and weighs in at 8.4 pounds. He was 2.3 the day he arrived.
He’s growing up before our eyes and soon enough he’ll be a big pig. 💛💛
Monty has been making his way around the sanctuary meeting all the pigs. It’s a good way to socialize him and teach him about pig behavior.
Yesterday Monty met Ruby! You might expect that the pigs would be mean or territorial but it’s quite the opposite with piglets. The older pigs are always welcoming towards piglets.
Monty even met some 500 pound pigs who were so excited to see him! The socialization continues. 💛💛
Animals like Monty need us to continue fighting for them.
