Love a Dane/Do your research
The love for Danes started at a young age watching the Jetsons, then Scooby Doo, The Marmaduke comics, 101 Dalmatians, Bat man, and much more, The Dane was the dog I always wanted, but was never able to have, So When my teenage daughter desired one, I just had to help her =). Enter Claire , I call her Claire bear, lol she was the runt of her litter, but that’s who she wanted, she is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever owned well co-owned lol ;) We knew we wanted to breed, so the search for the right guy took a while, until one day a friend and neighbor called me to see if I wanted her sons friends Dane who they no longer could keep, and along came Jack, he came with a different name but that’s not who he was, =) he is Jack! Well when they met it was love at first sight for all of us, they made the best pair, and we just knew marriage was near, lol We love them dearly but we can understand why Danes are surrendered so often, we fall in love with what they look like on tv, and how big and impressive they are in person but sometimes we don’t do our research and yes they have some health issues, but they are also not for every family. For the most part they are goofy, kind, sweet, and lazy, but they are also very strong, clumsy, have strong tails and be protective so when having smaller children their can be injuries not at the dogs fault but still, also Danes were bred to hunk pigs, so guess what they don’t make the best dog to have on a farm, now we are on a farm and have farm animals but they have chased and killed my chickens which has broken a heart or two. Feeding them is important, taking the right test for their health is important. But the most important is your human family so I urge everyone to do your research before getting a Dane, (or any dog) when we add a pet to our family they become our family so to not be sure if this dog is the right fit for you, and then decided later on it was a mistake you hurt the dog in the long run. When Jack first came to us he struggled for a few months he had rashes, and was very nervous, but now hes calm and just a total blessing to our family. Also I encourage people to adopt, but with young kids at home I have to say a puppy is a not a bad idea because you will know what to expect, and the training will start right from the start, still they are little gremlins in the beginning so beware of their sharp nails and razor sharp teeth =)
