Carin' About the Strays Rescuing abandoned & orphaned kittens, providing them care & support, and adopting into forever homes Carin’ About The Strays, depends solely on volunteers.

Nonprofit We are based out of Cookeville TN serving Putnam County. We specialize in pregnant females, orphaned kittens, injured animals which are treated at Ragland and Riley Veterinary Hospital . Our rescued animals are placed in a foster home, where they can be socialized and house trained, which gives them a better chance to be adopted, and make the adoption more successful. We are a Cat Rescue

, but will try to help dogs and other animals find the help they need. Our animals have come from environments that were not healthy for the animals such as abandoned animals, orphaned kittens, pregnant females or animals that were given up due to owner financial or other issues. We rely on sponsors and donations to pay for medical bills for our rescue animals. We are always looking for foster parents for our animals that are in need of a loving and caring home. Get Involved! Become a Foster Parent: Fostering animals is a rewarding experience! Many of the animals have had bad experiences with the human population and are scared and untrusting, by becoming a foster home you will be able to socialize and gain the animals trust, and in doing that they will be better prepared to be adopted into their forever homes. It is very rewarding when you recognize the difference you have made in the animals life. Donate can! We accept monetary donations and we also gladly accept pet carriers, cat toys, treats, food, and anything else that can help with the health and comfort of our animals while they are in our care. Any and all donations are appreciated. Contact: [email protected]

🌟🐾 National Adoption Week Highlight: Sky 🐾🌟

Meet Sky, a breathtaking Siamese boy with crystal-blue eyes and a heart that’s been through more than most. 💙

When his beloved owner passed away, Sky’s world was turned upside down. For nearly a month, he lived alone in a quiet house — someone stopped by to feed and water him, but the warmth and love he once knew were gone. 💔

Thanks to his foster mom, Sky is now safe and slowly learning to trust again. He’s rediscovering life’s little joys — playing with his favorite string toy and perching up high where he can quietly watch the world below. 🌤️

Sky is still a gentle soul in healing, looking for a patient, understanding adopter who will give him the time and space he needs to fully open his heart again. A quiet, calm home would be his dream come true.

💫 String toy enthusiast
💫 Master of high hideouts
💫 Neutered, vetted, and ready for love

This National Adoption Week, let’s give Sky the fresh start he’s been waiting for — a forever home filled with love, patience, and safety. 🏡💙

🚨 URGENT – FOSTERS NEEDED! 🚨
Our rescue is overflowing with love to give… but not enough homes to share it in 💔

We’re still desperately in need of foster volunteers, and we can provide everything you need — food, litter, supplies, and full vet care. All you need to give is a little space and a lot of love.

Right now, we’re hoping for foster homes for:
🐾 A sweet 10-month-old black cat with a missing or undeveloped leg — she’s spayed, healthy, and thriving as an indoor-only girl. Her current family loves her dearly but is facing serious health and hospice challenges. She deserves to stay safe and loved.
🐾 Judy, a beautiful black cat who will need a foster after her spay appointment on November 5th — she’s affectionate, gentle, and ready for her safe place to recover and blossom.
🐾 Tommy, a 14-lb snuggle bug and gentle FIV+ tabby — friendly, affectionate, and ready for a calm home (solo or with other FIV+ cats).
🐾 Two older cats whose elderly owner can no longer care for them. They need comfort and kindness in their golden years.
🐾 Two playful kittens searching for warmth, safety, and cuddles.
🐾 A sweet adult buff tabby who’s been living outside on a porch — kind, gentle, and so ready to be loved indoors.
🐾 And a tiny garage-found kitten who just needs someone to keep her safe.

AND COUNTING

💛 Every foster saves a life. Every space makes a difference.
If you’ve ever thought about helping — now is the time.
Please message us today or visit our foster page to apply.
Let’s give these precious cats the second chances they deserve! 🐾💕

🌟National Adoption Week Highlight: Rome & Milan 🌟

Meet Rome and Milan, two beautiful medium-haired siblings who have come such a long way since first arriving in foster care. 💕

When they were rescued, these two were terrified and unsure, relying on each other and their siblings for comfort. With patience and gentle care, they’ve started to show their true personalities — and what a joy it’s been to watch them bloom! 🌼

🐈‍⬛ Milan, a stunning black female, is full of personality and curiosity. She may need a little time to adjust, but once she feels safe, she lets her playful and spirited side shine through.

🐈 Rome, a handsome blue male, loves being loved on — he just needs a calm, patient home where he can relax and feel secure.

While they share a sibling bond, Rome and Milan don’t need to be adopted together. Each is ready to find their own special person who will give them love, patience, and the space to trust.

This National Adoption Week, help them continue their journey from scared to secure — and give one (or both!) of these shy sweethearts a chance to know what “home” truly means. 🏡💖

🌟🐾 National Adoption Week Highlight: Lily 🐾🌟

Meet Lily, our beautiful 1.5 year-old tabby with the sweetest mitten paws you’ve ever seen! 🐾💛 This lovely girl is a polydactyl — meaning she has extra toes, and yes, they’re as adorable as they sound!

Lily is a gentle soul who’s learning that love and safety go paw in paw. She’s shy at first, but once she trusts you, her affectionate and calm personality shines through. 🩷 She enjoys quiet spaces and soft voices, making her a perfect match for a peaceful home.

While she’d love to be your one and only, Lily does get along fine with other cats once she feels secure. She’s just looking for someone who will give her the time, patience, and love she needs to truly blossom. 🌼

This National Adoption Week, consider opening your heart to a cat like Lily — one who may start out timid but will repay your kindness a thousand times over with trust, purrs, and quiet companionship.

This week is all about second chances, warm hearts, and forever homes. Every cat has a story — some start in hardship, but all can end in love. 🏡✨

At Carin’ About The Strays (CATS), we believe that adoption isn’t just about rescuing an animal — it’s about gaining a loyal friend, a snuggle partner, and a daily source of joy. Whether it’s a shy kitten learning to trust or a senior cat who’s just waiting to curl up beside you, your love can be their new beginning. 💕

Visit our adoptables at PetSmart and see who captures your heart or set up a meet and greet with one of our many fosters!

Celebrate with us by sharing this post, spreading the word, or — even better — meeting your new best friend.

🐾 Foster Home Needed for Tommy! 🐾

Meet Tommy, a handsome, friendly 14-pound gentleman with the sweetest personality! ❤️ Tommy is FIV+, but don’t let that fool you — FIV+ cats can live long, healthy, happy lives with proper care and love.

He’s currently at Flatts Vet and really needs a cozy foster home to relax and feel safe. Tommy would do best as an only cat, unless your resident kitty is also FIV+.

If you can open your heart and home to Tommy, please reach out to us today. Let’s get this sweet boy somewhere warm and loved while he waits for his forever family. 🏡💙

🌎🐾 October 16: Global Cat Day & National Feral Cat Day 🐾🌎

Today we celebrate all cats — from cozy couch companions to the resilient community cats who roam our neighborhoods.

National Feral Cat Day began in 2001, founded by Alley Cat Allies, to bring awareness to the lives of outdoor and feral cats. Veterinarians and cat advocates across the country mark the day with spay-and-neuter clinics, vaccination drives, and community outreach to help control populations humanely. With an estimated 60–100 million feral cats in the U.S., efforts like these are vital in keeping cats healthy and safe.

Meanwhile, Global Cat Day reminds us of the importance of education, compassion, and protection for all cats—feral, stray, and domestic alike. It’s a day to speak up for those who can’t speak for themselves, to support TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) programs, and to encourage responsible pet ownership.

Whether you volunteer, donate, or simply share awareness, every action helps create a world where cats are treated with kindness and respect. 💕

🐾 Whisker Wednesday: So Many Whiskers, So Much Love! 🐾

It’s — and our whiskers are wiggling with joy over this week’s lineup of purrfect felines looking for forever homes! 💕

🐱 Kiwi — 1 Year — Silver Tabby/White (Male)
A heart of gold wrapped in silver stripes! Kiwi was once adopted but ended up outside — thankfully, his foster brought him safely back. He’s an indoor-only cuddlebug who loves to purr, zoom, and enjoy his favorite treats.

🐱 Violet — 6 Months — Tabico (Female)
This sweet girl was surrendered due to landlord rules, but she hasn’t stopped purring since! Violet adores gentle pettings and will reward you with a nonstop, happy purr.

🐱 Lucky — 4 Months — Tabby/White (Female)
Lucky truly lives up to her name — she was rescued from a car engine after a long, scary ride! Now she’s safe, playful, and full of love. She adores snuggles, toys, and second chances.

🐱 Marmalade — 4 Months — Orange Tabby (Female)
A sunshine soul in feline form! Marmalade loves to play, cuddle, and get along with everyone — cats, dogs, and people alike.

🐱 Fletcher “The Blueberry” — 4 Months — White with Gray Patches (Male)
A soft-spoken sweetheart who rarely meows but chirps when happy. Fletcher is a gentle, snuggly boy with the defensive instincts of a blueberry — truly the gentlest kitten around! Loves toy mice and his brother, Chip. (No dogs or small children, please.)

🐱 Chip “Chip-Chip” — 5 Months — White with Black Patches (Male)
A foodie at heart and Fletcher’s best buddy! Chip chirps when he’s happy, loves lap time, and can’t resist a good snack. He’s timid but affectionate and enjoys playing with spring toys and mice. (No dogs or small children.)

🐱 Kush — 4 Years — Masked Tuxedo (Female)
Talkative, playful, and full of personality! Kush loves to run, chase toys, and hang out with other cats. She’ll happily chat your ear off while keeping you entertained.

🐱 Cleo-Minnette — 4 Months — Gray Tabby with White (Female)
The tiny tabby with a big heart (and an even bigger appetite!). Cleo growls over her wet food — a habit from her days as the runt — but she’s a sweet, playful kitten who loves sock toys, spring toys, and her best friend, Lenny.

🐱 Prudence — 3 Months — Silver Tabby/White (Female)
Sweet, loving, and full of energy! Prudence is a social butterfly who gets along with cats, dogs, and children. A perfect family kitten with an endless supply of purrs.

🐱 Monte — 5 Months — Gray Tabby (Male)
Confident, affectionate, and expressive — Monte knows what he wants! He enjoys cuddles and playtime in equal measure and will let you know how thankful he is with every purr and headbutt.

Every one of these whiskered wonders is waiting for someone to love them — maybe that someone is you! 💖

🌟 Foster Spotlight: Zoey 🌟

Sweet Zoey has been with us for quite some time now, was adopted, and returned and she’s still patiently waiting for her forever home. 💕

Zoey came to us as an 11-year-old orphan after both of her beloved humans passed away just weeks apart. Losing the only home she’d ever known left her heartbroken and unsure — but through the gentle care of her amazing foster, Zoey has blossomed into a loving, resilient companion.

Now, this beautiful senior lady enjoys her cozy naps, soft pets, and quiet moments of affection. She’s polite, calm, and has a soft soul that just wants love and stability again. 🐾

Zoey would thrive in a peaceful home where she can feel safe and cherished for the rest of her golden years. After all she’s been through, she deserves nothing less. 💖

If you have room in your heart and home for this gentle girl, please message Carin’ About The Strays (CATS) today to learn more about adopting Zoey!
