Don't you love the sound of the alarm your dog give when a package is delivered? How about when your neighbor comes home? Or maybe they sing the song of their people because the squirrel just went by.
Ooof, I get it!
Grab 20 treats and go to the window with your dog. Make sure that there aren't any triggers going by in the beginning. Remember- baby steps!
Place 1 treat right at the window. It’s okay for them to look outside! If they calmly look outside and don’t bark, give them a second treat. If they eat the treat and look back to you, heck yes give them another treat! If they offer any behavior that isn’t barking out the window I want you to reward them by placing a treat at the window.
Do this often! But be sure you are implementing your management strategy as well or all your hard work won’t pay off! Comment GUIDE below and I’ll get you my free resource that dives deeper into this topic.
When a trigger (something that makes your dog bark) does go by, switch to the Look at That game where you reward your dog for actually looking at their trigger! That’s right, it’s A-okay to look at things all day long, just don’t bark at them. Deal?

Dog Walking Skills Part Three: Walking Past Other Dogs
When walking your dog, you’ve probably been in a situation where something catches their attention and won’t let go—other dogs, people, squirrels, that oh-so-tempting mud puddle! So how do you keep your dog moving when distractions arise?

Part 2 of our dog walking series...
Ready to add an essential tool to your dog walking toolkit?
In Part Two of our Dog Walking Skills series, we're diving into the “Emergency U-Turn!” This powerful cue can help you and your dog gracefully exit any stressful or overwhelming situation on the trail.
✨ Imagine this: You're out enjoying a walk, but suddenly, an unexpected distraction pops up—be it another dog, a bike, or even a horse. Instead of struggling, you can simply cue your dog to turn around and follow you in the opposite direction. It's your canine "Run Awaaaayyy!" signal, à la Monty Python.
Get the full breakdown, plus training tips and video tutorials on the blog! 📝🐾 [Link to bio]
✨Tell us, what's your U-Turn cue? 👇
Look at Tifa go!

Introducing the Pull Over
🚶♀️Is crossing paths with other trail users stressing you and your dog out? 🚴
Picture this: You’re enjoying a peaceful walk with your dog when suddenly, another person, jogger, biker, or that one guy with his goat appears on the trail. Your heart races. Sound familiar?
Whether your dog is reactive, excitable, or just a little cautious, you don’t have to dread these moments! Imagine having a reliable “Pull Over” cue in your back pocket—a quick way to calmly move aside and let others pass without the struggle. 🐾
In our latest blog series, we break down:
✅ The cues that make stressful moments smoother
✅ How to teach them step-by-step
✅ Real-world tips to master them
Start by teaching “Pull Over” to create a buffer zone between you and what’s coming. Less stress, more enjoyment, and a happier walk for both you and your pup! 💛🐕

Say hello to Tate...
I'm not even sorry that when I meet your dog, and they like me, I sound ridiculous. Sometimes, I just cannot contain myself when my student's dogs are THIS CUTE!
Please say hello to Tate, my new bestie. Take loves snacks, has dancy feet, has earned the nickname "metronome" because his tail is always going, and he makes the best chewing sounds when eating snacks. He's perfection. 10/10 dog trainers would recommend playing with this dog! 😅
Tate's family will be growing soon so we're working together to make sure he has the skills to be safe and successful and to ensure the transition is a smooth as possible. He's off to a great start!

In their younger days literally anything could set these guys off. Squirrels, chipmunks, a plowtruck going by, a heavy gust of wind, and of course, people and other dogs.
Does this sound familiar??
Phase one of behavior change is preventing those triggers. This can be the easiest or the most difficult part of the process because it requires more change from us than it does our dogs.
If your dog barks and lunges at dogs on your walks then avoiding those situations, at least in the beginning, is critical! We need to take a break from the hard stuff in order to build more desirable behaviors for our dogs.
Not sure where to start with that?
I've got you covered.
Comment ROADMAP below and I'll pop into your DMs with an invitation to my free training all about barking and reactivity. See you there!

When I stopped worrying about what everyone else thought (or what I told myself they were thinking) it allowed me to be more present with my dogs and focus on our journey together. Because you know what?
Other people's opinion of you are none of your business.
What someone else says to you about your dog, what the look on their face says, or what you assume they're thinking, shouldn't have any bearing on what you do with your dog.
You get to decide what you want for your dog. You get to decide who you allow to influence your decisions, trainers, family, friends, or strangers.
When I stopped worrying about what others thought, my relationship with Manzo drastically changed. I started enjoying him for the dog he was, not the dog he "should" have been. I started sheding that feeling of shame that comes with being a reactive dog parent.
I want that for you. I want you to leave your home with your dog, head held high, ready for whatever the world presents you with that day. I want you to thrive with your reactive dog and I want to show you how!
Join me for my upcoming free training where I should you exactly how I help my students, see the link in my bio to learn more or, comment "roadmap" below.
(This video is in loving memory of my beautiful baby girl, Piper. Living with a reactive dog is hard but damn, it's so very worth it 💔)

It can be hard to slow down.
Take a deep breath.
And realize that your dog is just struggling with their world.
Or, to realize that we may be too.
It's easy to become reactive ourselves when every day both human and dog are being startled by triggers present in every day life.
It's just hard.
But that doesn't mean you can't still do the things with your dog that you love doing together. While I often coach students to slow down, take a break from the hard things first, that doesn't mean forever.
Growth happens when we're challenged at just the right amount, for humans and dogs alike.
If you feel like it's time for a challenge, then come with me along the reactive dog roadmap. Together well figured out where to start, and how to get going. Will I see you there?
Comment ROADMAP below and I'll send you the details for my free upcoming training. Don't stay sidelined forever, with the right help you and your dog will do great things 💜
