Our Story

So a little bit about me: I graduated from University of Glasgow with a Zoology BSc (Hons) degree in 2007. Throughout my time at university I volunteered my time to different organisations which allowed me to gain experience in different aspects of animal care and conservation such as tracking birds, being involved with the observation of endangered bird and mammal species and also led me to work in a small zoo for a short while. My most treasured experience would have to be the 2 month expedition we took to the Amazon rainforest to collect data that would aid research into the animal diversity within the region. Amazing!

In 2010, I moved south to work for Cats Protection Warrington and was employed for 2 years with them before I took voluntary redundancy. During my time at Cats Protection I became a volunteer dog walker and fosterer for the RSPCA, which is what led me to meet my Ruby, the inspiration behind Ruby’s Walkies. I adopted Ruby in 2012, shortly after this I took redundancy, and Ruby’s Walkies was born!

Ruby’s Walkies became a great success, very quickly and we built a lovely community together with our customers. We cared for many pets, had fun adventures on our group walks, no matter the weather, aswell as caring for pets in their own home. Every one of them special to me, which is why it was a very difficult decision to move back to Scotland in Sept 2017. My Mum’s health took a turn for the worse at this time so it was decided to move home to be back with family after many years of living away from them. It was devastating to leave the family I had made in Newton-le-willows, but all were very understanding and I made sure all pets were passed on to someone who would care for them just how I would, taking some of the stress away from our customers and ensuring I could move back feeling positive they were all in good hands.
