About Me and My Business
Hi, I'm Lachy, I am 13 years old and have had many health issues in my life. I've spent at least 8 short stays in hospital for a staph infection, limb breakages and stomach pains. I have just completed the 2-year mark of a gut healing diet which aims to help restore bone density and build my immune system up to cope with foods that I can't usually eat as I react to them.
The foods I react to are wheat/gluten, dairy, some nuts and a few other random foods. I am also really sensitive to chemicals, mould, dust mites and cockroaches. Gross! My irritating symptoms include a runny nose, crusty/itchy/irritated/watery eyes, general grumpiness, cradle cap, smelly armpits (lucky friends and family!), eczema, smelly breath, low energy , tiredness, brain fog, constipation (not a glamorous symptom but thought I would share it anyway!) These are just some of the things I have experienced in my short lifetime.
Have you ever noticed any of my symptoms in your dogs? I did and that got me thinking? Is it wheat, commercial dog food and other dry processed dog products that could be causing these symptoms for dogs? I have a lovely labradoodle called Zoe. Before I changed my diet to a gut healing protocol, Zoe would have cooked rice, cooked meat and veg or dry dog food. She had hay fever symptoms and dry crusty eyes. She also had dry flaky skin. Oh, and she had the WORST stinky farts. When we changed diet, my mum also significantly changed Zoe's diet to include raw meat and veggies. Amazingly, all of her symptoms disappeared.
I believe that dogs should have the same right to eat healthy foods like most humans do. Zoe, when she eats wheat or grains like rice she gets crusty eyes and smelly fluffies and breath. She misbehaves and is always scratching her face and legs. I eat lots of good quality meat and loads of veggies and so does Zoe. Ok well, Zoe's meat isn't the same quality as mine but we do know that it is just meat. Usually, Zoe has raw mince from Coles or Woolworths with veggie juice pulp from my morning juice. We sq**rt it with a healthy oil like coconut oil.
