Buttercup - About 10 years after her rescue! Look at her! 😍🤩
She was the happiest little girl in the whole wide world!!
The leg? Sadly, nothing could be done about it. The vets put her on Glucosamine for a while.
♀️ A SHOCKING EVENT! ♀️
Something very unusuall happened to our Buttercup that was not related to her leg, and this will shock the pants off you!!! About a year after she was spayed, Buttercup went into heat again!! YES!! Fulll blown heat!! Estrus!! She started yelling and she started running around with her butt up in the air, red nose and all. Two of our male cats both tried to mount her - one had brain damage (Cerrebellar Hypoplasia)! We immediately took Buttercup to our vets the next day and showed them the videos we had taken of Butter in that state. They were shocked! We had had all of our rescues spayed or neuteredat this clinic except for Baby, our tiny miracle cat (more on her later). The vets observed Buttercup for a few days and opened her up and spayed her again.
Buttercup was fine....well ..until the following year. It happened again and with the same two male cats!! She went into PSEUDO ESTRUS again! Ovarian Remnant Syndrome. Perplexed, the vets watched Buttercup again for a few days and confirmed that she was indeed in heat again. But this time, they said there was nothing else to remove. So they sent Buttercup to Seoul National University's Department of Veterinary Medicine.
She had surgery again and this time it worked.
The professor who operated on her sent Buttercup to the Orthopedic professor to see if anything could be done about her leg. He wanted to try some things. But he also asked if we would consider letting the university keep Buttercup. Although we knew they would help her, we just couldn't part with our little Buttercup.
Buttercup is a very special little girl! Caring, nuturing and very loving, she is the "mom" in our home. Whether it's washing the other kitties or others, ...
