Phone: 281-564-6852 Collies are dependable house pets.

Houston Collie Rescue was established in response to the need to find good homes for Collies that are abandoned, lost, or mistreated, and that are in dire need of a new lease on life. We also help, in extreme emergencies, those who have to give up their dogs. We feel that the responsibility for caring for lost, neglected and abused Collies must rest with those who know and love the breed. HCR is m

ade up of individuals who have many years of experience with this breed and understand the needs of the dogs. What better reward could there be than knowing that dozens of Collies which otherwise might have been put to sleep, left out to starve or to run loose in the streets to be crippled or killed in traffic, are instead currently in loving and caring homes! All HCR Collies have received necessary medical treatment, have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for heartworms/hookworms, fleas and other parasites, and have been tagged with a Microchip recorded by name and rescue number in our files. Because of the often deplorable conditions they have come from; their intelligent, sensitive dispositions; double coats; and the Texas heat and humidity, our rescue Collies are required by adopters to be indoor dogs, except for exercise and pleasant days outside. Upon the dog's adoption, we recommend keeping our tag on the collar. To further protect your beloved new Collie we urge you to always keep your Collie indoors or behind a locked gate, in a fenced yard when exercising, and on leash when walking. For increased pleasure in your Collies company, we strongly recommend obedience training, especially in classes where you both receive the guidance of professionals and the opportunity for the dog's continuing socialization. Most Collies are outstanding obedience dogs. As a rule, Collies are loving and devoted companions, they are gentle with children and with other animals. Some Collies are quiet while others can be barkers. A Collie will bond very closely with all family members and will reward a loving owner with years of unquestioning devotion and affection.

Hello collie lovers! Many of you may be unaware of an organization that helps collie rescues throughout the US to lessen the burden of medical costs for our rescued collies. Houston Collie Rescue would like to let you know about the Collie Rescue Foundation. CRF came into existence due to a large seizure of a collie hoarder back in 2005. It became obvious local collie groups, who function solely on donations, could not help these babies without financial help. Therefore, the Collie Rescue Foundation was founded. CRF operates independently of CCA and is funded by membership and donations. HCR has benefitted from the help of CRF. You may remember the Tomball seizure in 2014 that resulted in the resuce of almost 150 collies. The expenses HCR incurred were well into the 5 digits. More recently, Marty had a heart defect that required surgery and Bandit needed a hip replacement. Both racked up extremely expensive bills. With the help of your donations and CRF, we were able to get these babies the medical help they needed while keeping our head above water so we can continue.
An annual membership to CRF is as little as $25. Please consider becoming a member or donating. CRF has helped our rescue breathe a little easier knowing they are there when we need them.

Alvin is a gorgeous 7-month-old Rough Collie with a heart as big as his fluffy coat. This sweet boy has a calm and gentle demeanor, making him the perfect family dog. He’s fantastic with kids, patiently soaking up every hug and snuggle they have to offer.
While Alvin has a serene side, he’s also a young pup full of energy. He dreams of a home where he can stretch his legs and run to his heart's content. A big backyard or regular trips to the park would make him the happiest dog in the world.
Alvin is kennel-trained, house-trained, and already knows some basic commands like "sit" and "down." His eagerness to please and sharp Collie mind make him a joy to train and work with.
Alvin thrives in the company of others – both humans and dogs. Being alone causes him to feel anxious, and he’ll pace until he’s reunited with his family or canine friends. He’s happiest when he’s part of a pack and loves curling up nearby when his humans settle in for the evening.
If you're looking for a loyal, loving, and energetic addition to your family who will shower you with unconditional love and companionship, Alvin is the perfect pup for you!
Are you ready to give Alvin the forever home he deserves? Reach out today to meet this wonderful boy – he can’t wait to find his forever family! Complete application at www.houstoncollierescue.org

Best Christmas Ever! Sweet little Evelyn will be seeing her wish come true! Bandit will become a member of the Brinker family! Many of you have followed Bandit’s surgeries and healing along with generous donations for his care.
Evelyn was just a toddler (18 months old) when Bandit came to her home as a medical foster. Evelyn claimed Bandit as her boy to take care of and love on. You have to understand there has always been numerous fosters in and out of the Brinker home along with the resident furbabies, but she knew Bandit needed her most.
Evelyn is now 3 and Bandit is all well. Bandit will stay with the Brinker’s for Evelyn to continue to grow up with. These 2 are inseparable…the best of friends!
You know, Bandit and Evelyn’s story would make a great Hallmark movie!
HCR thanks the Brinker’s for giving so much of their time and love to ensure Bandit got the best of care. This boy could not have landed in a better family! We look forward to following Evelyn and Bandit in their adventures together!
HCR would also like to express our great appreciation for all who helped Bandit with his medical needs; Texas A&M Small Vet Hospital, Dr. McIntyre, Collie Rescue Foundation, American Working Collie Association; all of the generous donations that flooded in for Bandit.
Happy Tails, Bandit!

It’s GivingTuesday! Consider donating to help with medical expenses for the collies in our program. Adoption fees are never enough to cover the vetting. All collies are fully vetted before adoption so please donate to help a collie in need.
We are so thankful for everyone. Every $ helps.

Pleas keep Tricia and her family in your thoughts and prayers .

Sadly, on Saturday, we had to let Elvis go to the rainbow bridge. We adopted him for my son for Christmas when he was five (he's now 20). Elvis was suffering from arthritis, hip dysplasia, and a heart murmur and was just in too much pain. He was a great dog...he loved tummy rubs to the point where they would put him in a trance, was so gentle with the kids as they grew up, enjoyed playing in the tub, and would spoon with you to go to sleep. Even his bad behavior was funny. He loved to steal sticks of butter and, given the opportunity, would take himself on an unsupervised walk around the block and then come home. He was our first adoption from Houston Collie Rescue, Inc. and we always claimed he was a collie in spirit (even though the DNA said he was corgi/maltese/beagle). He is with Gretchen now, running in circles and bossing squirrels around.

UPDATE: We have fosters! Thank you all! Look for updates coming soon!!!

So, you've always wanted a furry bundle of love to cuddle. You need some laughs watching puppy shenanigans? Now is your time! HCR has an opportunity to help some sable/white puppies, but without a foster, we cannot take them. HCR has no place to put them and no one to care for them without a foster. Please let me know if you can help HCR care for these babies. Text me! Karen 713-826-5862 YOU MUST BE AN HCR PRESENT OR FORMER ADOPTER!

We received some very sad new from one of our HCR family members, Sally. Sally, our hearts go out to you. It's hard enough losing them, but losing so young is a totally different layer of hurt.
From Sally: I had to say goodbye to my sweet Levi yesterday. He was only 5 years old but had an aggressive melanoma tumor in his mouth and struggled to eat. I adopted him as a puppy from Houston Collie Rescue, Inc. He loved to snuggle, play with his collie brothers, and bark at the deer just outside the backyard fence. I will miss him terribly.

Can you believe that one year has passed since Bandit underwent his Total Hip Replacement with Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital?! Neither can we!! His foster home reports that you would never know….he loves to play with his resident collie sister & any foster who comes in & is up for some zoomies! He is also a pro now at stealing spots on the couch. He went to A&M for his 1 year follow up on Monday. He received great news & good news. The great news is that his hip radiograph looks exactly like his 12 week follow-up; no signs of infection, no signs of fractures or being out of socket. The good news is regarding his left knee. They noticed some abnormalities during his ortho exam that are most likely from over compensation during recovery/before surgery. The good news though is that no immediate surgery is required, just needs to be followed up with along with his hip.

Bandit’s tiny human accompanied him & neither were too thrilled for pictures. Sometimes you gotta take what you get! 😂

Just a few days left to order your Peace Love Collie shirts!
