Pawsitive Pup Training

Today we are reflecting on 6 years of Pawsitive Pup! My business has went further than I ever imagined so quickly. I’m grateful to everyone who has given me the opportunity to train or board their dog over the years. I never want to take your trust and kindness for granted. From my heart, thank you. I always like to take this day and reflect on where I used to be, to where I am now. I hope you enjoy the nostalgic video of what the days used to look like at Pawsitive Pup. No fenced yards, only a breezeway and small kennel room. Dogs were either off leash or dragging a long line when outside. Looking back, those days were simpler even though I thought I was busy then. But today, the dogs still have fun. I’ve always been a big dream chaser even when it came with fear of change and of the unknown. I’ve been able to reach those dreams in the last 15 years with hard work, dedication, and fighting my anxious tendencies. Dream chasing has brought me so many incredible memories. But now, the dreams I have for myself don’t seem as big-but I know just one short year can change those dreams. So here’s to living this life and working to make our wildest dreams come true. 🐾

Took advantage of the nice weather and tested out the new little agility kit! This is a fun activity to try out with your dogs. We had to take some things slow and make it a bit easier, but we are excited to keep challenging them more. Foster pup Cassius: available for adoption through @littlevictoriesanimalrescue You really can’t ask for a better dog. He is not the kind of dog who’s going to jump on your guests, he doesn’t run all around the house, he rarely gets on the furniture, and he walks well on leash. He is the kind of dog that wants to be with someone, he enjoys attention but can also nap on his dog bed and be good. And if you invite him up, he will provide some good cuddles. He has adapted quickly to living the house life. Cass can take a moment to warm up to some new people, while with others he is excited to greet! Cassius would be the perfect pup for a new dog owner or an experienced one. He would enjoy having a dog buddy (he might not enjoy a very hyper dog who wouldn’t give him space) or being a dog who gets all the attention. Cassius-our foster dog through Little Victories Animal Rescue Shelter-has been living in the house with us since after Christmas. He gets training everyday, so I wanted to show one of the behaviors he has been working on, which is waiting at the door. He has to sit and wait anytime we go out of the door or in the door. Working on door manners with your dog is so important! 1) Keeps them from rushing outside anytime you go out or a guest comes in. 2) Helps prevent your dog shoving you out of the way anytime you walk out or in. 3) Gets your dog in a *calm* state of mind when you walk through that threshold-which is important because your dog won’t rush out and start dragging you on the leash immediately. Cass is an INCREDIBLE dog! Walks great on leash, is a cuddle bug, and has a lower energy level (so he takes lots of naps 🙌). We will be posting more progress videos as he continues to learn, which really he’s learned so much already. Interested in adopting Cass? We would love for you to meet him! 🐾

-2022- It has been a great year at Pawsitve Pup-probably the best year yet. In a few months we will be celebrating year 5!! WOW! What does summer at Pawsitive Pup look like? Oh, just a little something like this. 😎

Off leash dogs at Pawsitive Pup this week! More room to play and all I have to do is call them to me and they come running. Roxie (short haired pointer) and Zuzu (black lab) are both previously trained off leash dogs from my first year of business that are here for boarding. Hattie (yellow lab) is being off leash trained this week and she is doing great! She had excelled in the Puppy Program in the winter, so now she is being challenged more and growing in her abilities.

Who’s ready for their dog to have fun this summer at Pawsitive Pup?!

Meet Mountain Mama, she completed the Behavior Modification Program. When she first arrived, MM wouldn’t even walk on the leash. It took a few days to get her warmed up to us and then she was happy to go where we went. It was awesome to see her growth day by day!

Meet Dolly! She completed the Puppy Program. She did a fantastic job learning the basic obedience! The Puppy Program is a great start to working toward your dog goals! After the program, you’ll build on that foundation and challenge your dog more.

Meet Blanche! She completed the Good Dog Program. This video features my sister, Brooke, since I was in recovery for an appendectomy (I’m still feeling great!). Blanche was a sweet one to have in for training! She has some reactivity on the leash, but she was happy and quiet every time she encountered a person or dog here. Back at home, she started back up with her barking on leash and I passed along some tips and tricks. After completing a program at Pawsitive Pup, you will always have my support! Reach out anytime you need any extra help. All programs come with a couple of private lessons for working on something new with your dog or to focus on an area you may be struggling with. I want to see you and your dog reach those training goals!

Meet Bella! She completed the Great Dog Program! Bella was such an interesting character, but she really enjoyed the training sessions and caught on quickly! Can’t wait to have her back while I board her this Spring!
