Wags and Whiskers Attleborough professional pet care, dog walking & cat feeding
** sorry NOT overnight dog sitting **

Having my first pet, a kitten that I named NumNum, popped out of a gift-wrapped shoebox on my 8th Birthday, my passion for understanding and caring for animals began. Responsibilities and family commitments led me to a career with BT in various roles, predominantly in customer services. I then became a full-time Mum, after which I joined a local boarding school as a Matron. All of which, I thoroug

hly enjoyed but when my own children, now 26 and 23 became independent, I was able to consider myself more. I enrolled on to a Full-Time course, Level 3 extended diploma, with Easton College, where I studied for a year and gained Distinction in Animal Science and Welfare. The first step to realising my dream of having my own pet-care business, Wags and Whiskers. I then visited Buckinghamshire to complete a dog walking diploma with a Canine expert and L6 Behaviourist, alongside I studied Feline behaviour and psychology. I've continued to learn with IMDT, Canine Principles, and I am a member of a Foreign Rescue study group. Understanding Dog's body language, puppy behaviour, loose lead walking and recall are just some of the subjects. Reading excellent books and watching numerous online seminars/webinars and presentations fill any free time I have, further increasing my knowledge. It's been over 4 years since I started up and despite a pandemic, I have a thriving business with an excellent reputation and numerous 5* reviews. My core values are determined by the Animal Welfare Act 2008 - the 5 freedoms.

1) Freedom from hunger and thirst
2) Freedom from discomfort
3) Freedom from pain, injury and disease
4) Freedom to express normal behaviour
5) Freedom from fear and distress

Hello, my phone is now back on after a wonderful week away re-charging my batteries, lots of laughter and some beautiful warm weather. Thank you for organising cover to let me have this time off from work & to Kat of Kat's dogs for covering where needed.

I hope everyone is good, I've missed my furry friends.

A few pics 'as always' to prove that I don't always look homeless 😉

Super G had a very busy morning yesterday. She was closely supervising (and greatly interfering with) preparation for a letter drop in Attleborough.

Even with her huge visual impairment, she is still very efficient with any administrative tasks!

Yesterday afternoon we delivered to 190 addresses in an area we have had lots of complaints about anti-social behaviour by un-neutered cats. We have offered to arrange neutering and microchipping for anyone in the area in the hopes that the community becomes a safer place for people's loved pets!

Residents have complained about cats screaming during fighting and mating plus the smell of tom cat p*e. There's also been un-neutered male cats bullying for territory, which is always upsetting for any cat owner.

Neutering prevents so many problems and is the only fair thing to do if you love your kitty!

And finally, but definitely not least, a couple of days each visiting these three absolutely gorgeous ones over Christmas. Two I've visited before. One a new friend ❤️

A total of 9 cats visited over the festive period. Covid may have paused my career as a cat sitter when I first set up but now the dream has come true. The year full time studying Animal Welfare & Behaviour at Easton College is being used in providing the best possible care of your feline friends, understanding their behaviour, health, keeping them safe and happy.

I'm so excited to have a busy diary already with bookings for cats that I've visited before, thank you 😻 I look forward to meeting some new kittens and cats throughout 2025.

The best present that I got for Christmas this year - 13 visits to two of my regular gorgeous feline friends, that I've been visiting for nearly 4 years now.

They're both adorable, soppy and playful. We always have a great time playing in the garden and cuddles indoors.

Two new friends over Christmas. One a Ragdoll, one a British shorthair/Tabby. Both absolutely gorgeous, affectionate, playful and very sweet. We enjoyed lots of play with ball chasers, tunnels and some supervised outside time.

Beautiful Archie, aged 2, died on 27th Dec due to heart failure 😿 So very young, so very unfair.

Archie was the kitten who licked a Lily when I began a pet sit 2 years ago. Through that event a lot of people became aware of the danger of these flowers. I saw him weekly for cuddles as I walk a dog that he lived with.

He was given a wonderful life, absolutely adored. I saw the special bond he had with his owners and how much he meant to them. I'd receive cute pics of him most days. Had he not been loved as he was, saying goodbye wouldn't be as hard. My thoughts have been and continue to be with his lovely family who are missing him terribly.

Archie was a bundle of soft fluff. He loved the outdoors. He loved Dreamies. He was truly beautiful and we were all lucky to have him in our lives. Have fun over the rainbow bridge gorgeous boy.

2024 Christmas cat sitting included visiting two absolute sweethearts 💕

One who spends a lot of time upside down, feline body language indicating feeling safe & relaxed, exposing his tummy, the most vulnerable body part.
The other playful and adorably lifts her paw for more attention, be that be more play or fuss.

Loved spending time with these two.

Today was special as our group had another dog walker join us to observe a group session (no extra dogs). She remarked on how at ease and relaxed the dogs were around each other.

This brought about some reflection. I almost take it for granted now, that my dogs are this way. I considered the huuuuge progress one particular sweet dog has made this year. From being very anxious and scared of almost everything, to watching her now, full of confidence and obviously very happy.

I am so very proud Roxy!

An insight in to a 'group session' from today ❤️ PART ONE.

5 dogs, the max I'll have together for safety (despite being insured for 6 & having 3 years experience of running groups).

Carefully matched & introduced to each other.

No toys or treats, no need to risk resource guarding issues. Interactions with each other and engaging with the environment, physical & mental enrichment is plenty of stimulation.

The emphasis of these sessions being confidence & social skills. Healthy play - notice taking turns, bouncy movements, beautiful playbows and each dog's body language. Along with encouraging being able to be calm & relaxed around other dogs as various situations in life require such. We also practice recall in a natural way.

Returning dogs home happy & tired.

I'm now in a position to be able to share the deep sadness felt over the past week at the passing of Dottie.

For 3.5 years I've visited weekly for garden play which involved mostly cuddles with Dottie, one of the most affectionate dogs I've ever met. Sweetheart sums her up perfectly. Leaving behind Harvey Cockapoo, her best friend.

As a sensitive dog her amazing human family were devoted to making sure she was happy. With care 'above and beyond', she was given a truly wonderful life. My heartfelt condolences have been & continue to be with them as they approach their first Christmas without her.

May the memories shared bring comfort to broken hearts. Run free Dottie. We will really miss you.

5 friends who love the company of each other, and I love taking this group.
Some dogs find it easy to be confident around other dogs, some need a little help. When I can stand back watching them with a big smile I know it's been worth it.

And a gorgeous picture once home ❤️
