I'm a little late with today's post but good news is worth waiting for, right? Queen Thelma was at the vet earlier this afternoon for some follow up blood tests. In spite of her lengthy list of health problems she is responding well to new medication to help with her anemia. This means that she will have extra energy for tune ups. You-know-who better watch out!

All proceeds raised by the Tuxedo Party go towards supporting the great work done by Spay Day volunteers.

Today marks the 3 year anniversary of our first lease on SDH and the first day we admitted 5 cats to our shelter. 569 cats later, we can say our little shelter on the hill is the little train that could. Our plan on this day was to meet there, sort out some bedding and make a move in plan. But that morning we got a call from our volunteer saying I have 5 cats in my car, where am I taking them? A police raid on an apartment last night resulted in 5 cats being exposed to tear gas, the owner is in jail, and a landlord asked for my help to immediately take them some place. So instead of sorting bedding, we were moving in tables, kennels, food and supplies and setting up for some very needy cats who needed a place to go right away. I guess that is the hallmark of Spay Day, being flexible to turn quickly and helps cats as they need to be helped. With thanks to our generous donors & supporters, we have just renewed the lease on SDH for another two years. More cats will be helped.
