“I deliver eggs Thursday. Thank you.”
(In Leavenworth message to place an order!)
I like when we hatch eggs. It is fun to see baby chicks coming out of the eggs. You have to keep them warm for a long time. My Aunt Elizabeth asked me if If I would share eggs with a classroom so they could hatch eggs. I said yes! She sent this movie of the chickens hatching! -Judah😎
Two days after Judah bought the feed it was dry enough to pull the truck in to unload. This is his first time helping with the pulley system. Watch his face as he gained more confidence! Tomorrow we will share a post that will start at the beginning of his love of chickens.
Saturday Judah went for the first time to buy 700 pounds of chicken feed, paying the $142 himself with money he earned selling eggs! He was
so proud!! He has come so far since his journey as a chicken farmer began in 2017! We thought it would be nice to post a little memory everyday to share with old and new friends of Lay’s Eggs. So many of you have had a part in his accomplishments! Stay tuned!
This has been an exciting couple of weeks at Lay’s Eggs! We have 10 more “surprise “ chicks. We got a shipment of 10 baby turkeys. But most importantly Judah is realizing his goal of saving up for a big swimming pool!!! About a year ago he started his business. He has expanded it and worked hard helping to build and clean coops, daily chores of feeding, watering and caring
for his chickens. Gathering eggs, helping to wash package and deliver. He has about 50 chickens now!!! He has met so many friends and supporters along the way. He was even on Channel 5 news
! He got to hear and meet Temple Grandin, a famous and inspirational woman with Autism! Judah has saved $600.00 from his egg sales to help pay for this 33 foot above ground pool!! As his family we are so proud of him. And so thankful for all the customers, supporters and friends that have embraced him and helped make his business a success!!! We are installing the pool ourselves (quite an undertaking!) and as always Judah is working along side us. Here are some photos and videos.
The contest is on until Friday. I am counting some of the eggs after we washed them. There are a lot of eggs! This is not all of them. You can guess more than once. And if you want to buy some send a message. -judah😎
Good Morning! Gregg Allman II and the uptown girls, Henrietta and Henny Penny. -judah😎
The baby chicks were enjoying themselves today! They are getting more brave and venturing a little further from momma.
We have been meaning to post this earlier. 3 or 4 days ago we woke up to a surprise. One of our chickens was broody under our sunporch and we didn’t know it. We knew she was staying somewhere else at night but would come around during the day and was just fine. She hatched 11 eggs! The other two times we had hens go broody they only hatched one so this is really a big surprise.
Today was a good day to clean the coops. It was hard work. Grandma put an egg In her pocket and forgot about it. It got smashed. She had sticky egg in her pocket -judah😎
“Thank you! I am happy you like my chickens and eggs, friends” -judah😎
I am learning a lot about chickens. This video shows a black hen named Trudy And baby chicks. Trudy went Broody. That means she wanted to sit on eggs to hatch them. She hatched two babies by herself. We put some more eggs in an incubator. We needed more chickens because a fox got some of ours. I took care of those chicks as they were hatching. I was worried so I had my mom help me go get hay for a bed for them at 4 in the morning. After they all hatched we brought them out to Trudy and she decided to be their mom. It made me happy. -judah😎
