2 boxes of each Borax / Washing soda, plus 2 boxes of baking soda, and 2-3 bars finely grated fels naphtha soap. Add 3-4 cups epsom salt if you need a softener. Mix it well, powdered laundry detergent that lasts a LONG time!

💜 NE ASTER MEDICINE 💜

I planted these beautiful flowers from seed three years ago. Each year I just let them be because the bees loved them so much. This year though I felt the call to work with their medicine.

They are sticky and resinous, indicating they are beneficial to the lungs. According to Jim McDonald, they are especially beneficial to constrictive conditions like asthma or COPD as they help to soothe irritated tissue and dilate respiratory passageways. They seem to also have a gentle sedative effect which most likely boosts its powers as spasmodic lung tonic as well.

I'm most interested in working with this as an herb to strengthen weakened lungs. Perhaps combining it with herbs such as white pine, reishi, mullein or astragalus. Thyme could be added to stave off infection.

Like other resinous herbs, the flowers are best tinctured fresh. Of course I left plenty of blooms for the bees too. 🐝
