Hey it's been awhile since I have posted but right now I'm not breeding chins. After my divorce I wasn't able to maintain the proper care for them I do have cages available.

Our Story

AKChins is newer to the breeding industry. I found my love for chinchillas when I got my first rescue as a teen. She was a scared six year old chin named Maples. She was surrendered to a local exotic pet shop, I gave her love and care for 10 years before she passed from old age. After that I got married had kids but never stopped thinking or talking about Maples and chinchillas in general. Then one day my husband bought me another chinchilla, a black velvet male. We decided he needed a friend and things snow balled from there! We currently have 9 pedigreed chinchillas and always looking to grow! We are proud members of Empress Chinchilla Breeders' Cooperative (ECBC) and are ranch brand registered breeders. We are active with ECBC and show our chinchillas. After a lot of research, talking with other breeders and finding a mentor we have decided to take on breeding ourselves. Our goal with breeding is to use pedigreed chins, to know where there lines come from and be able to track and breed out any health issues and improve the overall qualities of chinchillas. Breeding isn't something done for money, for heck of it, or because babies are cute. A true breeder only breeds to improve an animal. Our decision to breed didn't come lightly, but we are committed to breeding healthy show quality animals and be apart of the improvement of chinchillas.
