Mieke's Small Dog Grooming Specialising in small dog grooming with 12 years experience. All small breeds welcome. My names Mieke and I have been grooming for 4 years. Prices starting at $10

I stared my grooming journey when I underwent work experience at a grooming salon, just brushing, bathing and drying dogs. Once my work experience ended I was then offered a job with them as a grooming assistant. After 6-12 months of brushing, bathing and drying they introduced me into clipping and began training me to be a groomer. I was taught all that needed to be known to be the best groomer,

from the best wash, to the finest clip and scissor. I since left the grooming salon to study but continued to groom family and friends dogs for my enjoyment. I am now seeking my own clientele to start my own grooming business for small dogs, so please if you have a small dog and they're in need of a wash or groom contact me! You wont be disappointed!

Hey fur parents! This holiday season, make sure not to give these major toxic foods to your fur babies. Not even if they give you puppy eyes!

* Ham & Bacon
* Blue Cheese
* Fruit Cake
* Grapes
* Raisins
* Foods with Onions
* Nuts
* Cooked Chicken Bones
* And last but not the least Chocolates!

🙅‍♀️ Ham and Bacon are popular this holiday but pork can cause pancreatitis, a potentially life-threatening disease.
🙅‍♀️ Nuts can upset your pet’s stomach, and can cause other complaints because nuts have an extremely high fat content and other substances.
🙅‍♀️ Fruitcakes and puddings may contain fresh or dried grapes and raisins which can cause rapid kidney failure.
🙅‍♀️ And although we know that dogs love cooked bones, they can actually harm and perforate their intestines, requiring surgery.

A friendly reminder. Happy holidays fur parents! 🌲🐶

The Animal Referral & Emergency Centre has a timely reminder to all pet owners - DO NOT give your pet dog or cat any of your Christmas ham🍖❌

"The fat and salt content of this delicious Christmas treat will wreak havoc on the gastrointestinal system of our beloved furry family members," they said.

It's not just ham pets need to avoid, with the Centre adding, "Often our pets will have increased access to chocolate, grapes, nuts and fruit cake, which are all capable of causing serious and sometimes life-threatening illness."

This poor dog picture is Gordie - in 2017 he ate an ENTIRE 2.2KG Christmas ham. His owners brought him in to the vet for help.

⚠️ Annual reminder about disgusting and dangerous raw hide pet toys / treats ⚠️

Avoid these nasty things this Christmas...

There are always some pretty grim treats for sale but this time of year it really is a perfect excuse to off load the biggest load of toxic tat for our dogs to "enjoy" 🤢 as a treat.

Many of these so called treats end up with the dog "enjoying" some time in a veterinary surgery over Christmas 😥

The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China...

The chews are made from cattle or horse hides and their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell. Now comes the pretty festive colours and the glue to form cute shapes.

On testing, these chews have shown traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium and formaldehyde.

If that wasn't bad enough they regularly cause intestinal blockages, poisoning from chemical residue and choking. The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog 😞

Leave them in the shop where they belong or if some well meaning person buys them for your dog put them safely away for later 😉 then dispatch in the bin!

Does your dog freak out at thunder or fireworks?
Try this technique, turn up the radio or TV to drain out the noise. It sounds cruel but ignore the behaviour, if they can see you they will be fine, otherwise you are just compounding the behaviour.
