Hi, I'm Jimmy Cee and I am a firm believer that "A well Trained Dog Starts with a well Trained Owner!" I own a physical dog training business but I have created The Crafty Pup with hopes of helping people like YOU all around the world train their own dog
Happy National Golden Retriever Day - Yeti with the Photo Bomb!
Most people’s biggest issues come on the leash with their dog lunging, pulling or being “leash reactive” as the public calls it.
Dogs act like this because the majority of people just let their dog do whatever it wants…
Focus on HEEL and your problems will improve tremendously!
Everything I do in training is down via praise. Telling the dog good job and or petting the 🐶
I say praise is 💰 to the dog
If you reward the good. The good will continue.
Conversely, if you reward the bad behavior it will continue as well.
An example your dog growls at someone and you said it’s okay buddy and pet the dog.
Most people aren’t even aware that they’re rewarding bad behavior but they do.
Another classic example is your dog jumps on you and you don’t want it yet you pet your dog.
When a dog does good I pet the dog… what did you just do in the above example? Reward that behavior.
You need to not reward the bad and it will go away or subside drastically.
Reward the good.
Merry Christmas, you filthy animals 🎁 🎄 🎅
So many benefits to getting your dog trained by a professional!

Much like anything in life you need to understand the basics before moving on to the more advanced things!
It’s no different in the world of training your dog. Most people have issues simply because their dog does not have an understanding of the basics!
A strong foundation of the basic commands will not only help you and your dog but it will give you something to fall back on in moments when your dog is acting up!
Example: Most dogs pull or lunge at dogs/people passing by!
The fix: If your dog understands HEEL when your dog goes to lunge or pull you you focus on having your dog HEEL! Heel means walk at your side not pull/lunge.
This is one example.
If you’re having issues with your dog focus on building up the basics and everything else will become way easier!

Praise your dog for good behavior and watch what happens.
Treats are not needed. I personally use treats with my young pups 8-20 weeks old but about 95% of the time after that I do not use them!
People ask me why not.
I say why would I use food when I don’t need to?
When a dog does good I simply praise them “good boy/girl” and pat them on the head.
It’s done wonders for me 😉
It will do the same for you - try it out!

This notion the collar should only be used on walks is solely a believe due to lack of education on the topic.
Training doesn’t just apply when “on a walk” like many people think.
Does your dog jump on people? Chew things? Steal things in your home?
All of the above plus more are relatively easy fixes if done right and when you use the right tools - the issues will be fixed in no time!

Saturdays are for the (Dog) Dads
Suns out tongues out.
On a mission to help educate the masses as well as pushing the limits of myself, my guy and whoever else wants to come along for the ride!
Here we’re out working at a park on off leash obedience!
Lots of clients I speak with assume “off leash” means just running around. While they’re right to a degree we can also train your dog to be obedient off leash.
Huh 🤔? What does that mean? 👇
It means your dog will heel, sit, stay, down, come, etc all of leash!
How good of a dog do you want?
If your goal is to just go for a walk without being dragged down the street and maybe being featured on that’s cool. We can do that.
Maybe you want to go in public with your dog off leash knowing it will be obedient?
We can do that too. It’s all a process but can be done.
Shoutout to the bald man and the dad rocking a bucket hat with killer calves for photo bombing Yeti and I!

I’m big on respect. Be it while training dogs and in life in general!
To be honest, training dogs is really just psychology at it’s purest form.
Granted it is technically but when broken down it’s very basic and logical.
The thing many don’t understand is the respect factor. If you treat me good. I respect you. If I treat a dog good and lead them, guide them and ultimately teach them the ways then they respect me (or you!)
Throw in the fact I praise a dog a lot and the respect factor goes up more.
If you treat me bad or unfairly- I don’t respect you. If I treat a dog bad or unfairly they don’t respect me.
See the correlation?
This picture just captures the “mutual respect” at it’s purest form.
I’ve trained Nina for a combined 4 weeks and everyday we both show up with that same love for the game. The same respect for one another!
More people need to embrace this concept. Especially in the world of dog training!
I don’t just train dogs. I teach dogs respect. I respect them. They respect me. I respect you. You respect me.
Once respect is broke then trust is lost and it’s hard to gain back. In dogs and in human relationships.
This is important. Remember this.
✌️ out ~ Jim & Nina

All of these are very important.
As I trainer I get to observe how my customers do things daily.
These are all very very common mistakes people make and most aren’t even aware that they matter but they do!
Kinda like your kids. How many times do you repeat things to them before they finally do it? 🤔
Dog’s are very intelligent, remember that!
Also, remember one more thing 👇
A Well Trained Dog Starts With A Well Trained Owner!
What does HEEL Mean?
The left side is the standard but if for some reason you want the right side that is totally fine just be consistent!
Your dogs ears should lined up with your leg not 5 inches in front, behind or to the side!
The entire point of being picky with this has a few reasons:
1) When a dog is in Heel you won’t be pulled
2) The point of being consistent is once you get to more advanced off leash training “Heel” means walk at
One side! People often use both sides and then when you ask your dog to heel what are you really asking them?
Everything I do when training a dog is designed to be straightforward to the dog and you as the owner!
Swipe to see a first person point of view at what HEEL should look like!
If you have questions or need help training your dog let me know!
What’s your dog’s biggest issue you can’t seem to fix?
When you reward a behavior that behavior will be repeated!
Whether it’s good or bad - this is something many people make the mistake of doing!
A classic example: Your dog whines and people will say, “Fluffy, do you need to go out? Are you hungry? What’s wrong?”
The list goes on those are just a few of the most common ones!
In this example your dog whines and you respond aka you are giving attention to a behavior you do not want!
Everything I do in training is done via praise, me telling the dog he is doing good!
Something my mentor always told me, negative attention is still attention!
If you reward unwanted behavior that behavior will be repeated and often times it will get worse!
This can be avoided if your focus on a few things! If you’re walking focus on Heel and keeping the leash relaxed!
If you stop focus on your dog being in a sit!
If you have questions let me know below 👇
When people find out I train without treats they literally stop the conversation and ask me, “How do you do it without food? That’s not possible!’
It is possible. I do it everyday.
All you need to do is praise your dog properly and you can do anything!
A dog, just like us like being told they’re doing a good job! 👏
Praising your pup goes such a long way and the nicest thing about it is your dog does it for you and not the treat!
Does your Dog Pull you on walks?
One of the biggest problems can be fixed in 1 hour or less with some proper training!
Heel Command - Dog should be walking at your left side with the pup’s ears in the middle of your leg!
** You can do the right side if you prefer but pick a side and be consistent!
If you have questions or need help training your dog let me know 👇
People tend to reward their dog’s bad habits without even realizing they’re doing the wrong thing which in result makes the problem worse! 🤔 👀
Board & Train
The benefit to having your dog stay for a board & train is you drop off Dog A & pick up Dog B!
This program is the highest investment but yields the best results in the shortest amount of time as I do all the training before then working with you to make sure you understand and do everything properly!
Your dog must be 4.5 months or older to begin this program! I require a pup to be this age to ensure the dog is mature enough!
There is a 2 week minimum for New dogs. Depending what you want done will determine whether I recommend 2 or 3 weeks of training!
However, I can also keep a dog longer and get more done such as off leash obedience!
Have I already trained your dog?
If so, then the 2 week minimum doesn’t apply. For dogs I have already worked with I can watch them while you’re out of town if you want more training and I can even train them for a few days here or there!
The benefit to a Board & Train is the dog doesn’t get away with any bad habits during the training process!
Then when it’s time to go home I have you work the dog with my guidance to make sure you learn how to handle your new dog!
⚫️ 2 Week Minimum for new dogs
⚫️ 2-3 Weeks is what I recommend for most people
⚫️ Videos & Pictures are sent to you through the training as well as me posting on my social media accounts
⚫️ Minimum of 3 Private 60 minute lessons are include with two weeks of training! Additional lessons are include if you do 3 weeks or longer
⚫️ Dog will be trained in a variety of locations; my facility, parks, walking trails, etc!
My goal is to give you the Best Trained Dog in the Neighborhood!

Ice baths have lots of benefits for your body but also your mind. This was awfully challenging and my mind was telling me to give up. But through breathing, singing and visualizing I survived 😆
Training dogs has & continues to teach me a lot about not only dogs but people as well!
I have been very ☘️ “lucky” ☘️ to have met a lot of great people throughout the journey and continue to meet great people everyday!
Some of these people have become friends, some close friends and a few are almost considered family!
This guy right here, Yeti Man has and continues to teach me new things daily as well!
He has been by my side since I started The Crafty Pup!
And he proves to me how frickinnnn smart dogs are! And let me tell you it’s wayyyyy more then people give them credit for!
These animals are so intelligent aka why you all hire me to fix the problems 😆
Anyway,
He’s been there for it all. All the ups and even more downs! Without him The Crafty Pup wouldn’t be what it is, no chance in hell!
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to thank him enough for being my ride or die for it all!
This past year has definitely been the hardest year of my life. Again, without Yeti I really don’t think it would have been possible to do what I have done and continue to do!
Breaking off on my own last year was a tough decision but one that I had to do. There was something deep inside my gut telling me I had to do it. Why I had that feeling I can’t really tell you… bc I don’t really even know! But it was itching at me to do it!
What I can tell you is taking that leap of faith, that Jump into the unknown was scary!
It’s led to a tremendous amount of growth for myself, my business and Yeti!
I started going to therapy to better myself both professionally and personally and the ROI is insane 🚀!
My good friend, brother and or mentor whatever you want to call him was the one who told me to go to therapy as he said it was the best thing he’s ever done!
I can now attest to that!
Also, hearing that from a very successful person, one who started a business that most of you now use made the decision easier!
Tell me 2 years ago I’d be looking forward to therapy every week and I’d say you’re insane and laugh in your face. Now, it’s a reality!

Teaching a Dog SIT-STAY without treats! This is Penny’s second day of training. 1) Get the dog into a sit at your side! 2) Repeatedly day SIT-STAY as you walk a small circle in front of your dog! You can say sit stay as much as you’d like - were teaching the dog this at the moment! 3) Keep the leash relax. If the dog gets up say no in a relaxed voice and bring the dog back to the same spot & start over! 4) As you get back to the dog’s side, pause for a split second. Then say heel & walk forward! If you want your dog to learn fast the goal should be to do 3 in a row where the dog does perfectly! 5) Praise your dog by saying good boy/girl and or pat the dog on the head! Lots of issues could be avoided if people followed the above 👆 process! Not all dog are friendly to strangers. Not all people want their dog to say hi to every passing dog!
We live in a world where people just ‘assume’ that every dog owner wants their dog to say hi to each other! It’s not the case. And I’ll tell you why 👇 In this example I was talking to a friends mom and sister for a few minutes as we were passing each other on a walk. A few minutes into our conversation I turn around to a guy who’s letting his husky pull him into me & the dog I’m training, Ollie. He was letting his dog come into my space and just say hi to my dog without even asking me or even letting me know he was there! There’s a few reasons why I don’t do this or advise you to let your dog to this to a stranger 1) It encourages your dog to pull you towards other people or dogs on walks. Plenty of my customers are paying me to train their dog not too pull them and this is a big thing people do wrong. If you let your dog say hi to everyone and every dog you can’t blame your dog for wanting to pull you towards the person or dog! 2) Not every person wants your dog to say hi to their dog! 3) Some dogs are aggressive. Not all aggressive dogs ‘look mean’ I’ve trained plenty of dogs you’d never know are aggressive and if you just let your dog into that dog’s space someone is going to get bit! These are a few of the main reasons why you should ask a stranger if your dog can say hi to theirs! ** Let it be clear I, myself do not let my dog or any dog I train say hi to random peoples dogs. There are too many negative things that can happen and as a trainer people pay me to teach their dog to listen to them and not to go play with other dogs on a walk! If you have any questions let me know 👇 If you found this helpful I’d greatly appreciate it if you passed it along to a friend 😀 ✌️ out ~ Jim #dogtrainingtips #thecraftypup #jimmycee #puppytraining #onlinedogtraining #newpuppy

TIPS to Avoid your dog getting sick in the car! If your dog has issues in the car a good place to start is by taking a very short drive 1-5 minutes if possible to a nearby park or field! Once there spend 5-15 minutes playing with your dog, walking, fetch, etc. anything your dog likes to do- do that! Now, if this is you this will take some work it won’t necessarily fix in 1 time of doing it (it may - but pending on the dog it may take longer!) However, the concept here is instead of having your dog get anxious to go in the car. The end result here is your dog to LOOK 👀 forward to car rides! WHY? If you do this exercise your dog will now get excited (after some practice) to go in the car because it means FUN a la - a walk, playing fetch, running, etc! Also, do your best to remain calm. People (often don’t even realize it) get anxious and the dog feeds on your energy which makes the situation worse! Do your best to act normal and try this out if your dog gets sick in car rides! Biggest thing for fast results : short car rides 👉 that lead to a fun activity and then go back home! This will take some some work but if done consistently you will fix the issue and or drastically improve it! Questions? Let me know below 👇 If you found this helpful I’d appreciate it if you passed it along to someone it may help out 🙏 ✌️ out ~ Jim #dogtrainingtips #puppytraining #thecraftypup #jimmycee #puppytrainingtips #onlinedogtraining #onlinedogtrainer #newdogmom
Here we’re working on Macky’s Off Leash Obedience in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin! This is a spot his owners often go so I made the trip up with them to work in public as their goal was to have him off leash yet obedient! You’ll see Macky has no leash attached to him. What he does have is a short tab that acts as his leash. The short tab allows you something to grab incase needed. So in this case he knows that HEEL means he should be right at his moms side and there’s no leash necessary! This is why I’m so picky when initially beginning training as HEEL means the pup ears should be equivalent with her leg! When the pup heels like Macky os doing he gets rewarded via praise - whether she pats him on the head or tells him good boy is the equivalent to her giving him 💰 $100 ! If he breaks heel the she can grab the short tab to give him a little snap on the leash while asking him to heel! Can you imagine your dog walking like this in public? Many people never train their dog off leash and a ton also don’t even know the possibilities of a dog that’s fully trained off leash! Often time when you let your dog off leash it runs away. A dog that is trained off leash will not run. The reason being any dog I train off leash has “Freedom” almost all the time & being FREE isn’t special. Now a dog that isn’t trained off leash often times value being free sooooooo much more because it’s a rarity so when they are free they run 🏃♀️ Here, I’m at a park with Wilson with people & dogs around! You can see he’s content just going about enjoying being free. Any dog I train can be free whenever the only thing is they have to come when we call them! Here Wilson comes on the first command and sits right in front of me which is what it should look like. Then I tell him he’s free and he can do whatever he wants again. Notice he doesn’t run when I say free. He likes hanging near me. When he comes I praise him and tell him how good he is. He is trained on an E-Collar for come. Which means if he doesn’t come I can give him a stimulation from a distance which he knows means come back to myself or his owner and sit in front of us! This allows him freedom and his owners the piece of mind knowing their dog will come back when called and also gives both him and the owners the privilege of going anywhere off leash and not worrying about their 🐶 running away! My goal is to educate people all over the world on how to train their dog! Something I often say is a well trained dog starts with a well trained owner & my goal is to educate YOU how to be the well trained owner I speak of! Training A Dog To Go To Her BED From A Distance! Here I’m working with Maggie in her home on how to get to her bed from a distance. When I first start this I will walk a dog right up to it and say bed while guiding her on to her bed! Then I’ll say stay. Bed Command: Some people call it place. I call it bed. It means go lay down and chill until myself or YOU come back to your dog! This is used if you have people over, if you’re working, eating dinner with the family or if the dog is being annoying you can have them stay on the bed! The uses for this are endless! I’m this clip, I’m beginning to teach Maggie the golden doodle to go to her bed from about 10 feet away and then afterwards when I release her it’s important to give her lots of praise and play with her as a reward! Start by doing this right by the bed and as the dog progresses you can move further and further away and eventually I do it 100% totally off leash! Would you like it if your dog stayed while you ate dinner? Were working? had friends over? Etc? My goal is to help people all over train their own and pup 🐶! Something I often say is a well trained dog starts with a well trained owner and my goal is to help YOU become that well trained owner! Is your dog leash reactive? 👇 The biggest thing I see people do wrong is they stop. When passing other people or dogs so me their dog acts up! This actually makes it worse. You need to focus on having your dog HEEL and continuing to move! Imagine you & I hate each other. You want to punch me in the face. If I stop while you walk by me there’s a lot longer for you to react towards me. Now, imagine the same scenario except this time we just pass each as we both keep walking! If you keep walking by it’s real fast and over! You need to keep moving and the issues will improve and or go away! This is just the concept it will take some training. Implement heel when passing other dogs and or people or whatever your dog acts out on! I promise it will work if done right! Have any questions? Let me know 👇 If you found this helpful or know someone it may help out I’d greatly appreciate it if you passed it along! Remember, A well trained dog starts with a well owner! How The HEEL Command Should Look From Your Point Of View! Heel means walk at your left side and the pups ears should be right next to your leg with a relaxed leash! If you want to do the right side that is fine too. However, I am consistent and have the dog on one side. After proper training this is how any walk should look. It is essentially effortless as the dog is walking along your side with a relaxed leash. Now my hand is right there incase I need to help the dog out should the dog lunge at a person, dog or animal. When the dog is in heel I praise the dog by saying good girl/boy and or patting the pup on the head! This is how Heel should look like from your point of view! Does your dog walk nicely on walks? It is my goal to help people all over the world by teaching YOU how to properly train your dog! Can you imagine calling your dog when playing with another and the pup stopping on a dime & coming back to you? This is something very important & could even be life saving! In this video, Nina the Black lab mix is the one I am training & the golden retriever is being used as a distraction. Nina & I are in a fenced in backyard when she is free and running around playing with Michie. I do this on purpose to simulate a real life situation where Nina is playing & she has to stop and come immediately! Here, Nina does perfectly meaning she comes to me on the first time she is called. When training a dog I train them to come back on the first command! If she comes back on the first command she gets praised. If she doesn’t come on the first command she will get a correction on the collar and then once she comes she will still get praised! She of trained on the E-Collar for come Meaning if she does not come the first time called. The second time I will repeat the come command while giving her a correction on the E-Collar! The correction is a stimulation which allows myself or her owners to have control from a distance & if the dog doesn’t respond to you the pup is conditioned that the stimulation is coming from YOU! Then once the dog comes she will still get praised. However, in this video as mentioned above she did perfect which means she did not get corrected. The only thing she didn’t do perfectly is sit facing me & you can see I grab the short leash she has on and straighten her out! A well trained dog should perform any command on this first try but MOST IMPORTANTLY should stop whatever she is doing and come immediately like Nina did here! Nina did my 3 week boarding & training program - this gives me lots of time to train the dog & then allows me to put the dog in a ton of different situations that are organic real life situations! If you have any questions please let me know 👇 My goal is to educate people all over the world 🌎 on h
Having a DOG that is TRAINED to COME on the FIRST command is is important! A trained dog is taught to come on the first command no matter where we or are what is going on! Here I am out with Oreo and he’s Free at this moment. I have him free on purpose as I am trying to set up situations that are organic or as I call them “real life situations” Him being free means he can do whatever he wants. The only thing is when I call him he has to come! This lets the dog have more freedom than a typical pup knowing he will come on the first recall! So here he does it perfectly. He should sit facing me which he did not do but that’s why when I’m doing off leash training the pup will have a short little leash attached where I can grab if needed. In this instance Oreo came back perfectly but sat facing the wrong way so he still gets praise for coming when called and I grab the short leash and straighten him out. To me “Come” means come & Sit in front of me! The reason this is important is often times dogs will come back to you and then run off again or run right into you! Yes, I have had clients where this has happened and one even broke her leg 😬 To make things clear to the pup the expectation when recalling a dog is to come & sit! Oreo is trained on an E-Collar for recall. This lets me or you correct the dog from a distance if need be. What this means is the dog comes back the first time he just gets praised. If he doesn’t come the first time, the second time I call him he will get a correction on the collar and then when he comes he will still get praised! POV: What HEEL should look like 👀 👇 Most people have issues on walks simply because you let your dog do whatever it wants! If you focus on heel those problems will go away! This is how a walk should look with Macky in HEEL the entire walk. If you don’t want your dog in a HEEL then I tell the dog he is FREE! What’s your pups biggest issue? ✌️ out ~ Jim
