I always said, and I will continue to say this. Like family and friends, my dogs are my family and are not going anywhere because it has behavioral issues or they bite someone. ADVOCATE FOR YOUR DOG AND OTHER PEOPLE. CLAIM YOUR SPACE( not harshly). Owners need to get down to the root of the problem, see how the owner's actions affect them, and hire a professional trainer to help with those problems. Once a dog is in my family, they are not leaving. Family and friends come before boyfriends or Marriage. If they can't accept your animals and the love of pets, then they do not deserve you or deserve to be in your life.

Update: Progress on Cece's walking skills when she is afraid of hearing loud noises like cars or trucks going past has improved, but she is still working on it. On the walk, we had a minor scare, but she recovered our walk back to her regular happy self. I believe she got scared by a construction worker cutting a piece of metal. Note that it is not a muzzle(if it were a basket muzzle, it would be more bunker and around her whole muzzle). It's a gentle leader good for helping dogs walk on a leash without pulling and a redirection tool. I would never use this on a dog who is never trained with leash pressure. I would start off with a slip leash if needed training. Look on my page and it can show you all those topics that I have covered. Contact me for more details and we are having more available services in the summer for cat and dog care.
On days that it is raining, I like to give the dogs more mental enrichment, so today, besides our walks, I decided to get freeze-dry dog treats and play “find it” with the dogs. It’s been a while since we played, so they are a bit rusty. Each dog got two rounds of “Find it.” We reinforced some commands, with treats around by verbal communication to correct the command that was not done. Both dogs did the game twice.
This is why I do not recommend dogs meeting on leash like this. You need to avoid it at all cost. There are many ways to socialize your dogs this and parks are not one of them. Ask a trainer how to socialize properly or look up ways to introduce a new dog while walking. If you know the dogs from a puppy as well as the owners who are reliable then that is a bit different but having dogs meet face to face on leash is a bad idea. You can walk them from across the street, 50ft behind or in-front to maintain distance. Practice walking on leash with other dogs around from a safe distance because that is socializing. Remember I said “ Dogs do not need to interact with each-other in order to socialize, the can be behind a gate, across or behind the street.” Always advocate for your dog where ever you go.
Lol, I Love it. I usually don’t let anyone pet my dogs or walk up to any dogs on leash because 1. It gets their attention not focused on you and what you're doing on the walk. 2. People using a baby voice causes the dog to get over ally excited, whereas, for some dogs, it’s hard for them to settle down. 3. If you have a dog, walk up to you and your dog. 4. You, as the owner, don’t know that the dog is coming towards you, and if it’s under control by the human(even if the human is paying attention vs. not) and you may not read your dog's body language and can cause a reaction from your dog. 5. The other dog is leash reactive.
Part 1 During our walk we spotted two dogs off leash, so what I did was I put CeCe in a sit from far away or advocate for CeCe from the dog if the dog got to close. Another thing you can do is pick up your dog if it’s a Yorkshire Terrier, the proper way when you need to look it up, and do it correctly. When and if your dog is not to heavy. Note: CeCe gets dominant and reacts negatively when a dog is aggressive to her. Today she did not have a prong or an e-collar on. We practiced leash walking skills with noises that scare her, “stop” (sitting automatically when we get to the end of the block or just saying it when your dog is not doing the correct thing). I had also used treats prior to outside to reassure her that this was not going to hurt her and get her used to it like if she were to put a basket muzzle on her, this is like a head collar or a Haiti. STOP MISTAKEN THE TWO.
I agree. Like I always said, if you use the e-collar correctly and rotate it between the time you have it on your dog. You should not have a problem safely using it. When I first got my dogs, they were out of control. My dogs used to pull, jump a lot(furniture and humans), pull to see another dog or human, and now respect their owner's Boundaries, compared to where they are now. I put a lot of training and repetitions into the work they are doing now. I first taught them the basics, then started using a slip leash, to a prong which then worked on leash skills and walking up to a dog correctly, and finally, the e-collar to reinforce their bad behavior before it actually happens when you first see another dog or human. When you correct a dog, you must do it at the right time. Not too late, but when you correct your dog, it does not know what you did wrong.
