Petworks is the brainchild of long time Internet entrepreneur Michael Caldwell. Mike previously co-founded the musician/entertainment marketplace GigMasters in 1997. That company was later acquired, but Mike’s desire to build online marketplaces remained strong. Believing firmly that passion must fuel any successful undertaking, Michael wondered to himself, what else is there in his life that he's

as passionate about as music? Michael grew up in a small, bustling Long Island household with his parents, four sisters, three dogs, two cats ... and a pet squirrel named Frisky! Mike developed his love of animals early. Knowing from his previous venture that a strong co-pilot is the key to success, Michael didn’t look far - teaming up once again with his GigMasters co-founder, Kevin Kinyon. Michael and Kevin are excited to build this unique marketplace dedicated to those who make pets their living. It connects pet parents with services for all animals - not just dog walkers and cat sitters, but horse boarders, aquarium cleaners, and chicken coop builders just to name a few. Their mission is to build the most comprehensive pet services marketplace in the U.S (and beyond!). Michael resides in Redding, Connecticut along with his wife Danielle, three sons, and four pets - Snowy, Clementine, Poppy & Leo. Petworks operates out of the B@Work co-working space in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

Our Story

Petmasters is the brainchild of long time Internet entrepreneur Michael Caldwell. Mike previously co-founded the musician/entertainment marketplace GigMasters in 1997. That company was later acquired, but Mike’s desire to build online marketplaces remained strong. Believing firmly that passion must fuel any successful undertaking, Michael wondered to himself, what else in his life was he as passionate about as music? And then it hit him … Pets! Michael grew up in a small, bustling Long Island household with his parents, four sisters, three dogs, two cats ... and a pet squirrel named Frisky! Mike developed his love of animals (and computers!) early.

Recognizing the evolving landscape of pet professions, Michael decided to build this unique marketplace dedicated to those who make pets their living. It connects pet parents with every kind of service provider - not just dog walkers and sitters, but trainers, groomers, healers, portrait artists, grief counselors and more. It features services for all pet types - not just dogs and cats, but horses, chickens, fish, parrots, and hedgehogs just to name a few. Michael’s mission is to build the most comprehensive pet services marketplace in the United States.

Michael resides in Redding, Connecticut with his wife, Danielle, their three sons, two cats, and rescue dog, Poppy. Petmasters operates out of the B-Hive co-working space in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
