I have not posted on our page in some time. We have sad news to share. Our sweet Daisy Jane has wings now. The Lymes she got 3 years ago unfortunately took her from us. She was Violets sister and there are some big paws for Violet to fill. Daisy you are forever in our hearts. We miss you sweet Angel.

Make sure you check for ticks this time of year. Spring is a big one and for us in the Southeastern states, ticks are pretty much all year long just like mosquitos too!!!! One of our 1 year old Great Bernese dogs could not get up one day. We thought maybe she pulled a leg muscle or her sister may have played too rough with her. After watching her for a bit I knew it was serious ! My husband came home and helped me lift this big 100 lb girl into our car. At the vet she could barely walk into the front doors but she made it, bless her sweet puppy heart. They had to put her on a electric lift to get her to the back since she did not want to get up to walk due to being too painful. We got a vet that was great in seeking out the not so usual diagnosis, and asked if she could order the Lyme and Rocky Mountain Spotted fever tick test. We said YES!! Even though they had not seen a tick on her, I had been bitten by a lyme tick/deer over the past few months and got the classics red bullseye rash from our woods. A few days later her test was at the high end for Lyme. The vet had already started Daisy on Doxycycline 100mg for 2 weeks. Within two days before knowing what the blood work said, she was walking and playing and eating her food again! Plus she was put on pain pills for joint pain. If you have Deer, you might have deer ticks which carry the Lyme disease. If untreated we could have lost this sweet big girl.

We are finally getting cold weather here in N.C.! The puppies love it! They are 11 months old.
