Live at NARBC St. Louis with MEGAMIX! 🪱 Tarantula Cribs NARBC: North American Reptile Breeders Conference

This handsome guy is a bromeliad tarantula, Pachistopelma rufonigrum. Native to coastal Brazil, this species has physical adaptations to living life inside of bromeliads, like a flattened abdomen and carapace! In captivity they can get along just fine without, but we like to provide them the choice to use them. This species is incredibly rare in the US hobby. Our male here is currently on a date with a lovely female - let's hope we can make more USCBB bromeliad tarantulas! 🤞

Here's your first Safety Net update: our model female we showcased a few days ago has dropped a perfect pearl of an egg sac! 🤍 You'll see a lot of photo and video in the future with this red lighting; we do this to avoid damaging the sensitive membrane that these spiders develop in their eyes every night in order to improve their vision!
