Woof Pack member Bruno’s dad came down with a bad bug for a couple of days. He needed some help getting Bruno out to go potty and on a good walk. Woof Pack to the rescue! We are available for last minute scheduling-nights and weekends too! While you take care of whatever has come up, be it illness or working long hours, we take care of your pets!

This weekend Bruno is staying with us! We all went up to Park City’s Willow Creek Dog Park & Pond for some fun. Bruno loves to play fetch, in and out of the water-he’s a great swimmer! A good time was had by all and the fall foliage in the mountains is in full swing, go have a look before it’s gone!

If you are in Utah, Idaho, the general area, PLEASE consider fostering or even adopting a boxer from Boxer Lovers Rescue!! We adopted Reuben in June and it has been great for him, our boxer Layla, and us! I feel it’s a little too soon for Reuben and Layla to take on a foster dog so for now I am sharing this post in the hopes someone else will!

We are tagged on boxer after boxer sitting in a shelter somewhere - we are tagged on boxers being rehomed by an owner - we get surrender forms on boxers almost every day... EVERYBODY is always posting to help them, please don't let them be euthanized!! and we get it--it is the last thing we want but we cannot do this by ourselves - we need, no we have to have people start stepping up to help. There are nights I lay awake, too stressed to sleep, trying to figure out how the 2 in that shelter or this shelter will make it out.

We hear, " oh, I would get too attached, my kids would get too attached, my schedule is too busy, " and so on. Will you or your kids get attached or fall in love with them - yal there is a good chance of that, I mean they are boxers. How can you not? Which is worse, being a little sad when they leave or them being euthanized cas nobody could help?. And while yes we all know I'm a bit boxer-obsessed, it surely cannot take more time out of anybody's schedule to foster 1 boxer than it does to take care of how many here.

If every person reading this would foster just 1 boxer, we'd probably not have to beg for the next year for help. If every person who has adopted in the past 10 years would foster just 1 boxer, we'd be set. You can be the one that blesses another family with some boxer love just like the foster that blessed you with your boxer.

Our family and Woof Pack have expanded-meet Reuben! Last month we adopted Reuben from Boxer Lovers Rescue, a wonderful organization, be sure to check out their page! Many thanks to his loving foster family and the rescue for choosing us to be his forever family! Reuben is so sweet, goofy and handsome. He and Layla are the same age (2yrs) and they are best friends and playmates. We are thrilled to have another dog in the house and pack!

We decided to check out one of the dog approved patios today with Layla-her first bar patio outing! We walked over to RoHa Brewing Project - great spot. Lots of choices for beer, cider, a few canned wine choices and also NA beer for those who do not partake. Today there was live music too! They offer bar snacks and a rotation of visiting food trucks, with shade and water for the pups on the patio, we’ll be back!

🚨Important Update on Parley’s Creek fuel spill: The areas to stay away from include Tanner Park!🚨

Health Officials Advise People and Pets to Avoid Waterways in Sugar House, Hidden Hollow and Parley’s Historic Nature Parks

Following this morning’s I-80 fuel spill that impacted Parley’s Creek, health officials advise people and pets to stay out of potentially affected waterways until water sampling results are available.

Results may not be available for up to a week. Parley’s Creek flows through Parley’s Historic Nature Park (“Tanner dog park”), Sugar House Park and Hidden Hollow Park. Responders have placed absorbent booms in the waterways to collect as much fuel as possible.

The accident occurred below Parleys Water Treatment Plant and Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities has confirmed that drinking water quality is NOT impacted.

Salt Lake County Health Department (SLCoHD) and the Utah Division of Water Quality have sampled the waters in the potentially affected areas. Officials on site have not observed impacts to fish or ducks in the waterways, but the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources will monitor wildlife in the area and respond to reports of injured or deceased wildlife.

SLC Public Lands and Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation have placed signage at Parley’s Historic Nature Park (“Tanner dog park”) and Sugar House Park alerting visitors to avoid the waterways until further notice.

The quantity of fuel in the creek is unknown. The truck involved in the rollover accident was carrying up to 180 gallons of fuel in its two saddle tanks, but much of the spilled fuel remained on the roadway and in absorbent booms placed on the freeway by SLCoHD staff early this morning.

Fuel sheen was present on the water at Parley's Historic Nature Park ("Tanner dog park") and Sugar House Park, and fuel odors were noticeable at Hidden Hollow Park and near 900 East (but there has been no sheen observed at those latter two sites).

Officials expect the forecast rain to clear out of recreational areas any remaining fuel not absorbed by booms.

We loved the coats we got Layla last winter but she outgrew them both. Besides being super cute and warm, the zipper up the back makes them very easy to get on and off-we highly recommend this design feature if you are getting your dog a coat! So this winter we just got her the same coats in bigger sizes, here she is, last winter->this winter. The pink fleece coats are from our wonderful local pet store, The Dog's Meow . Our little winter queen!
