I direct my dog my dog does not direct me. No matter what age your dog is at we should always direct or redirect our dog. When your dog starts to show any unwanted behavior, it should be corrected right then and there with follow-up on our part. If our dog is being stubborn and fights listening don't give up and walk away correct that behavior. It could be with a firm voice following up with directing your dog to its bed to go lay down. your dog knows when we are the leader and when we are not. Our dogs don't have their pack or their mother to direct them or redirect them once they go into a home that job becomes ours. When your pup is at a young age and you start to see bad habits forming correct them. It's not cute and we are not being kind to ourselves or to our dogs when we let them run our lives. Start problem-solving when your dog misbehaves, if correcting a certain behavior is not working try a different approach. Don't wait for that behavior to get out of control. Don't wait to call on a Dog Trainer when you have allowed this to go on for a year or longer. Call on a Dog Trainer when the behavior starts if you are not sure how to direct or redirect or problem solve the situation. As a Dog Trainer, I help you learn how to direct and redirect your dog in situations. I recommend tools like collars or leashes that might help with your ongoing teachings with your dog. I'm not a miracle worker, I'm not going to sugarcoat things. If your dog is out of control I'm going to be upfront with you. If you are babying your dog and then turn around and ask for help from a Dog Trainer be willing to do your part and do what it takes to help turn your dog's behavior around before it's too late.
