As โคValentine's Dayโค approaches, we thought it would be a good time to remind of dangers of Lilies in our homes.
๐จ1. DEADLY TOXINS: All parts of the lily plant (leaves, pollen and flowers are highly toxic to cats.
Even ingesting very small amounts can cause โ ๏ธsevere kidney failure.
๐จ2. NO WARNING SIGNS: Unlike some other poisonous plants, lily toxicity doesnt always cause immediate vomiting or other obvious signs.
In fact, symptoms CAN take 12-24 hours to appear, by which time, significant kidney damage may have already occurred.
๐จ3. ALL LILIES ARE TOXIC - best to avoid all varieties altogether for peace of mind.
๐จ4. EASY ACCESS - Lilies are popular flowers in bouquets, vase arrangements and centrepieces, but this puts curious cats at risk.
Even a single petal, stamen or some pollen on their fur can be lethal.
โ ๏ธIf you suspect your cat has come into contact with a Lily flower in any of these ways, please contact your vet immediately for advice.
TOP TIP
Avoid Lilies in flower bouquets altogether.

๐คถ3. *Secure your Christmas Tree* - also string or tinsel (if ingested, they can cause very significant issues).
๐ฏ4. *Be very mindful of electrical cords and lights*
๐ฆ5. *Create a safe place for your pet* - sometimes the noise, activity, lots of visitors can get overwhelming
