hey guys!!
you may have noticed some talk going around about some health issues the campus cats are experiencing, or noticed the issues yourself.
Eggs, Twix, and Empanada have all been spotted limping and Microwave has a pretty nasty wound on his arm. We don’t know the sources of these issues and if you’ve seen any cats fighting or other potential reasonings, please let us know!!
initially our plan was to take Eggs to the vet, because her limp was the first issue we were aware of. however, we decided to try and trap Twix first for the vet. her limp was worse and shes more approachable than Eggs, so easier to catch (we thought). this would give us more time to think of ways to catch Eggs.
Twix was not easy to catch.
after Twix evaded us, the TNR team pivoted and decided to grab Microwave instead. Microwave’s wound started getting infected, so it’s a good thing we got him in now!! he’s been given medication and will be released this evening.
special thanks to those of you who helped catch Microwave last night, lead by our feeding head, Megan. additional thanks to our TNR head, Marco, for being Microwaves vet tech working with Dr. Newton to give Microwave the care he needs while working with our budget, alongside all the great staff at the Animal Health Care Center in East Arlington. This is the second time they’ve seen Microwave and the third time they’ve helped our campus kitties.
we’re still keeping an eye on the limping cats and are planning to grab Twix within the next week or so.
