A few weeks ago, our volunteer Tracey noticed that ONE phone number was responsible for 60% of the puppy ads in her local Iowa paper. This number wasn't attached to a breeding facility and, when called, they provided no information about the kennel. Yet they were selling 28 different breeds of dog and had numerous advertisements weekly.

Tracey not only sparked a Dept of Ag investigation into this number due to her data collection, but she spent weeks having conversations with the newspaper company about how unsafe this was. Because of that, this paper has instituted a new policy change and will now require a breeder's license number to be disclosed for every puppy sale. This means that 73 newspapers in 26 states will have this new policy!

Does this end puppy sales in newspapers altogether? Nope. But it does give the consent back to the consumer who can now do their research before they buy! If the public is fueling the puppy mill market, they are the ones that can help us shut it down by being informed consumers.

Welcome to see our Boxer mix puppies We have partnered with another rescue to save all 10 of the boxer pups. What a great way to work together and rescue animals from terrible situations. These sweet little babies were found in a plastic bag stuffed in a garbage can. Their screams of desperation were heard by a Good Samaritan. Thankfully in time to save all 10 lives. A Journey Home has 5 of the most beautiful souls. We have been nurturing and nursing them back to health (as many of them were emaciated). Now our “Boxer Pack” are all Thriving and healthy 💓 We are now accepting applications from families looking to adopt a puppy.
