Puppies, Dharma (tri colored Female) and Karma (black/white Male), took a trip for their first vet exam today. Both got a clean bill of health except Dharma has a slight heart murmur that we are hoping she will grow out of. I am trying to

Sweet Pea had a visit with our neurologist today to just make sure there was nothing we should do about her involuntary leg movements. Turns out she will continue to be the best tap dancer in the Midwest! Sweet Pea is still looking for her forever home so please share her post so that we may find her special someone. We got sweet pea when she was about 10 weeks old and she just celebrated 2nd birthday!
Audie says Good Morning!! First morning after surgery and look at him!! His bandage isn't supposed to come off until tonight. The inflatable collar wasn't effective at keeping him away, so we changed to an e-collar.
Poor Bean, one of our adoptables, started having labored breathing and is now at the vet in oxygen with suspected congestive heart failure. So far, just with diagnostics and the visit his bill was over $1200. If he needs hospitalization the quote was $4500. 😭
We know we just asked for donations for Audie, but with such a costly emergency we could also use some support for Bean.

Juju and Marley are looking for a new couch back to cuddle on. Could it be yours? This duo would be a wonderful addition to any family- they are friendly, low key, get along with other dogs, cats and kids. Probably best without birds or other small animals. They have done spectacular with housetraining and crate training. Juju (big spoon) weighs 11.8 lbs and Marley (little spoon) weighs 9.8 lbs.
Here's the other cutie that we got 2 weekends ago, Mercutio! He's another one that ended up at a county shelter as a stray and no one came forward to claim. He is said to be 12 years old, but boy does he have spunk! He is a sweet boy who craves attention and is not shy about demanding it. We think he might be a chihuahua pug mix. Check out that curly tail and those adorable ears!

💥💥💥 PENNY NEEDS YOUR SHARES! 💥💥💥
Penny has been with us in foster for over a year now. She was able to get out for a respite stay last weekend when we went out of town. She was able to go to a pet-free temp foster and she sure showed what a great girl she can be!
Penny has to live separately from the other dogs with us, as she can be dog reactive. Sadly, she spends a lot of time alone, which is very tough for a young, energetic dog who loves companionship and people. We wish we had a better setup for her, but we have not succeeded at finding a pet-free foster home yet and there has been ZERO interest in adoption. With so many pit mixes, she just hasn't stood out in the crowd.
Penny showed last weekend, that she is resilient... and AMAZING! She did wonderfully with her house manners, never barked, played with her toys, and went on lots of wonderful walkies with her temp foster mom. She is ready to find a home of her own where she can continue her training and get all the love she deserves.
Penny's biggest fault? She doesn't realize her strength or power. She thinks she is a tiny lap dog.
Penny's adoption fee has been waived in lieu of signing her up for training with a mutually agreed upon trainer.

Pilgrim and Jimmy Chew ♥️♥️
Jimmy Chew is a stage 3 clinger 🤣 he always wants to be touching you. He found a compliant little friend to snuggle up with ♥️
He has not been listed yet but he is available for adoption. We are still waiting for his neuter but can always do foster to adopt until the procedure is completed.
We welcomed Jimmy Chew into the rescue on Monday!! He had ended up at a local animal control and no one came to claim him. He had thinning, coarse fur and overgrown nails. He is a little reserved and skeptical at first meeting, but warms up quickly. Likes to run and play. Guessed to be only about 2 years old and weighs about 6.15 lbs.
Jimmy Chew will be available for adoption once he is neutered.
Penny!! Only about 1.5 years old. Was adopted as a pippy and returned earlier this year due to no fault of her own. The family's child had difficulty being nice to Penny :( now she is looking for her forever home. She'd love her own backyard.she can be reactive to other dogs, but with an experienced handler she could probably do fine with another appropriate dog. Her adoption fee is waived with the stipulation that she must be enrolled and attend a training class with an approved trainer.

Staying cool out there today? It's pretty hot here, so Sweet Pea wasn't able to play outside for very long.
Lacey has had no interest, but she is really such a great girl. She just needs someone to give her a chance and time to warm up. She loves getting pet, cuddled and play time. She gets along with other well adjusted dogs with proper intros. She came with Cagney, but they are not bonded and can be adopted separately.
