Meet Dexter, an adorable 8.5-year-old German Shepherd x Cattle Dog mix who’s looking for his forever home! Dexter may be a senior, but he’s still full of life and love to give. He does have some arthritis and has experienced hip dislocations in the past—his hip has popped out twice but has been put back in. This is something that may need ongoing care, but it certainly doesn’t slow him down. Dexter still loves carrying his favorite squeaky duck toy around the yard and will happily chase it all day if you let him!

Dexter is calm around cats but prefers not to be around small or young dogs. He’s house-trained but may need a week or two to settle into his new home. He also sleeps comfortably in a crate and enjoys nice, slow walks on the leash.

Despite his hip issue, Dexter remains a happy, playful boy, wriggling around and loving every minute of playtime. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion who just needs a bit of extra care, Dexter would love to meet you! Our Story

Adopt a Dog Fraser Coast Inc (formerly Fraser Coast Animal Rescue Inc) supports a committed group of volunteer foster carers who care for and assist to re-home unwanted, surrendered and mistreated animals, whilst promoting responsible animal ownership. Using public promotion at local events and representation in local print and social media, we strongly advocate the de-sexing, microchipping, vaccination and registration of all domestic pets. Fostered dogs in our care receive “temperament testing”, coupled with basic training and general obedience. We feel it is imperative that any antisocial behaviours are adequately noted and dealt with prior to re-homing.
