The “K9 Kahunas” were created in August of 2008 when Guido and Kona took surf lessons from the San Diego Surf Academy in preparation for surfing in the Helen Woodward Surf Dog Surfathon. We decided that since there were two of us we should have a team name! We also toyed with the idea of creating a FB page and for a brief time we had the “K9 Kahunas Reality Rally” page that was designed to help us
raise funds for an “Amazing Race” type event that we participated in as “Canine Reality Stars”. After much discussion we decided to resurrect the original idea of the “K9 Kahunas” page as a way of interacting with our friends as a group. Only now we’re opening it up to ALL surf dogs, be they retired, active, kooks, pros, wannabes or land lubbers. This is intended to give you a chance to interact with and learn about surf dogs! Our mission is to share the stoke with everyone who hangs on our “beach”! This includes posting surf practices, fundraisers, play dates and much more! You don’t have to be a surf dog to hang with our pack, but we will do our best to be a place for information and to share everything we all hear and know about the surf and non-surf dog world. By creating our virtual beach we invite you to hear about all the opportunities in the surf dog world, whether you're a surfer dog or not and no matter where you live! So come share the stoke, surf our break and hang on our beach!
