Rain's BEST OF BREED win at the National has sort of overshadowed her daughter, so please allow me to take a moment to say how VERY proud I am of Rain's young daughter "Lucy", who won WINNERS BITCH at the National Specialty - at the age of just 12 months! She showed her little heart out, and I couldn't love her more! "Lucy" is Vali's Always Winter

BEST OF BREED - 2023 Icelandic Sheepdog National ! My wonderful veteran girl "Rain" won BEST OF BREED at the ISAA National Specialty on March 31, 2023 in Wilmington, Ohio. "Rain" was just a few days shy of NINE years old, and had been retired from the show ring for the past 6 years or so. Clearly she wanted to make up for her hiatus from the ring in a big way lol! SO proud of my darling girl, who is and will always be the foundation of Vali Icelandics!

Now I can start getting excited about SCARLET puppies! Scarlet ended 2022 as the #1 ICELANDIC SHEEPDOG in the U.S. (All-Breed)!
She is a GCHB, and just 3 pts. from her GCHS. Group Winner, Multiple Group Placer, SELECT at Westminster, and all that at just 3 years of age! SCARLET was bred to BUBBIE (GCH CH Eyjahunda Thorarinn), the 1st Icelandic Sheepdog All-Breed BIS Winner in the U.S., Ultrasound says YES she is pregnant! VERY exciting times here at Vali Icelandics! "SKY", GCH/CH Vali's Double Or Nothing BCAT CGC just had a great week down at the big Orlando shows ... BOB on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday! SKY is currently #5 Breed and #11 All-Breed, at just 2 years old! BIG grats to Sky and Lisa on a great show week!

Puppies are 2 weeks old now - 4 girls and 2 boys. Flashy red & whites, with big, blocky heads ... and ALL have double/double dewclaws. Ah well, puppies - what's not to love lol?

POTENTIAL PUPPIES! Here is "Blue", the sire, who is the full litter-mate of "SCARLET" ( # 1 Icelandic Sheepdog Bitch in the U.S., both BREED and ALL-BREED). Will do an ultrasound in about 3 weeks to determine pregnancy, and if the results are happy, then PUPPIES around the first week in December. Check out Scarlet's new ad in the October issue of Canine Chronicle!

It was a very VALI weekend! Several of the Vali family kids travelled to the ISAA National Specialty/Supported Entries weekend at Purina Farms, and WOW WOW WOW did we have fun! A HUGE thank you to all for the super-nice "congratulations"! Some of the highlights: SCARLET : 1 Select and 3 BOS ... SKY : 1 Select and 1 BOB ... THORRI : (National) Best In Veterans Sweeps, Select from Veterans, Best Stud Dog ... TUESDAY : Best Opposite in Puppy Sweeps, 2 RWD (to 5-pt. Majors) ... TAWNY : WB (5 pts.) to FINISH her CH, 1 Select ... MAXIE : Best In Sweeps Puppy (from 6-9) ... FRED : WD/BOW (5 pt. Major) to FINISH his CH !!! SO happy with the Vali kids! Again, it was a very VALI weekend!

PUPPIES DUE EARLY MARCH !!! Since we had such a small litter (three boys lol) ... AND since those boys were exceptionally nice ... I decided to repeat the breeding of my foundation bitch, "Rain", with the VERY handsome "Thorri" (photo below, in the snow). I will have one of these puppies available to a SHOW home only. Vali started in 1988 with an idea to own, train, exhibit, and breed champion Keeshonden. After over 25 successful years with many wonderful Kees, I began looking for a different breed, and found the Icelandic Sheepdog. Hook, line, and sinker ... I’m now all-in, and wondering why in the world it took me so long. My first Icelandic, “Rain”, came to us in 2014. She quickly earned her AKC Champion and Grand Champion titles, and is the love of my life. Intelligent, willing, sound, outgoing, friendly and loving ... Rain exemplifies exactly what makes an Icelandic Sheepdog so extraordinary!
