So true.đ˘
Wow, very appropriate comparison for rescuing all species right now, dogs, cats, rabbits, etc. Please donât get a pet if you donât have the time or money to care for it properly. And please, consider adding another pet to your household if you just lost your furry friend or you have time and space. There are so many out there with no place to go.
Every time rescue is asked to take an owner surrender- we have to somehow make room on our little raft for that dog. When an owner says stuff like âI donât have time to give them the best lifeâ or âI have to moveâ or âthey have too much anxietyâ it really falls flat because that means if we bring them on the raft, another dog out there in the freezing water gets to die.
Every day in rescue we adjudicate life and death by gate keeping who can get on the boat.
Rescues and shelters are the tiny rescue boats.
The ship is our community at large.
The iceberg is comprised of puppy mills, careless owners, backyard breeders, and a$$hats who wonât spay/neuter.

Let us not forget all the homeless animals on the streets trying to survive until they either die or rescued.
First time Iâve ever seen dog ownership numbers over cat ownership numbers in any statistical gathering and itâs a significant difference.đ¤
Pets are a major part of ownersâ lives, so it's not surprising these stats show the pet-sitting and boarding market is worth billions of dollars a year
Slowest game of air hockey ever!đ
Wow!!!
As silly as this sounds weâve had prospective adopters just like this recently. What is wrong with people?! This is exactly why weâre on an adoption hiatus at the moment, for me to regain my sanity.
I had a call from an interested adopter. Well, things did not go well. It went something like this.
Ppl: I am interested in adopting Kim for my grandmother.
Me: Have your grandmother apply, and once the application is processed and approved, we can set up a meet and greet.
Ppl: Can we skip the logistics and just pick the dog up? My grandmother is 94 and this would make her happy. She's not doing so well lately. She won't be with us for much longer.
Me: And you think a 1-year-old puppy is the answer? Who will be responsible for Kim's care now and when Grandmom passes?
Ppl: we are still figuring out a care plan. But once my grandmother passes, we will take it to a shelter.
Me: Sounds like a solid plan. But I'll need a basic form filled, and you can list Jesus and his mom, the Virgin Mary, references. I'm sure Noah has space in the ark and can take Kim once Grandmom moves on to heaven.
Ppl: You're joking, right? You can't be serious?
Me: oh, I don't joke about Jesus and his people. He has a reputation.
Ppl: đŁđ¤ŻđŁđđĄâĄClick.
Me: I thought we were making jokes đ¤ˇđ˝ââď¸.
Too cute and watch to the end⌠The next party may cross âparty lines.âđ

Dolly is a 3 year old female pittie mix who came to us as a stray. Poor girl was dragging a leash and clearly had puppies recently. All attempts to locate an owner and/or her litter of pups were unsuccessful. It seems sheâs another discarded mamaâŚused and then dumped.đ˘ This petite, short stack gal (only 39 pounds) was very scared when she first arrived but came out of her shell once she knew she was safe. Dolly adores people and canât get enough attention. She truly wants to be your best friend and has never met a stranger! Dolly has also done well with other dogsâa meet and greet with any existing dogs in a potential new home will be required to ensure a good fit. Dolly is struggling in our kennels, as she is clearly missing the family she once had. Help us find Dolly a home to give her all the love she deserves!

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays Everyone!!!đHope you are all having as wonderful of a day as our adopted Ozzie! Unfortunately, weâre no longer able to rescue dogs, but we love seeing videos like this of all of our adopted critters!â¤ď¸đâ¤ď¸
Check it out! We let the girls go out today to enjoy the sunshine. Daphne was such a good girl as she walked out on her own, which sheâs done before, but TODAY she also let us know when she was ready to come back to the barn and did it all without the sled! This is a BIG deal in order to save our backs.đ (See comments for the conclusion:)
Jett really needs a family of his own! He is so upset by his limited attention here at the rescue. Surely someone knows of a couple, active family or an active single person who would love a loyal dog with energy and intelligence that could share their adventures! Here are Jettâs details: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/jett-64805076/in/indianapolis/indyclaw-rescue-in440/
