The Victoria Humane Society (VHS) is a community-based, non-profit charity, dedicated to finding safe and loving homes for companion animals. With the guiding leadership of our Executive Director and a dedicated team of volunteers, we strive to take in every possible animal that needs saving. The VHS does not provide any cruelty or prevention services, we are solely focused on helping animals. The

VHS difference is our foster home approach for our animals. We believe that a home environment is best place for an animal to rehabilitate whenever possible and it’s been a huge part of our success rate. All animals that we receive into our care receive all the love, care, and medical treatment they need before we place them in their forever homes. The VHS receives animals from many sources. We assist as a safety net locally within our community, we actively work with rural and remote communities with training and overpopulation and take in surrenders whenever possible when owners are not able to care for their animal’s needs. Since our inception in 2013, thousands of animals have gone on to find their forever homes and with your support, we will continue to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome every animal we possibly can. Volunteers and donors are the heart and soul of our organization – we literally could not do this work without you. Thank you for supporting us as a donor, foster, volunteer, or adopter. For more information, application forms and to see our wish list, please visit our website at www.victoriahumanesociety.com

The Victoria Humane Society does a lot with a little and our time and resources are needed by the animals, for the animals. With this in mind, we have a few community guidelines in this space to make everyone feel comfortable, safe, and respected. Be Kind and Courteous

Not all stories have happy beginnings or endings in the rescue world, we often deal in tragedies. Please respect us and our community when engaging in our page. We will not tolerate any form of social media harassment. If you see something inappropriate, report it to us immediately. Respect Difference of Opinions

Agree to disagree, that’s okay. Always act with integrity and respect when engaging in any online discussion. Do not phrase your comments in a way that attempts to shame, humiliate, or undermine this organization or other supporters. Respect Privacy

VHS receives animals from many terrible and tragic situations. Once in our care, these animals are entitled to a new beginning and the privacy that entails. Likewise, the fosters and the new owners are entitled to an environment that is safe and protects their privacy. It is not only disrespectful, but it’s illegal to engage with an animal or its owner once it is in our care. Be Inclusive

Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender, or identity will not be tolerated. Provide Value

We want to hear from you and encourage comments, questions, shares and dialogue. When doing so, always respect our brand and our guidelines, and remember rules number one, be kind and be courteous.

A super thank you to all the humans who brought out their dogs! We met little dogs - big dogs. Dogs that dressed up in their St. Patrick's Day best! We even met some dogs who gave cuddles and kisses! Special thanks to the dogs who "chatted" with us - we loved their stories!!

Kudos to our wonderful volunteers who gave up another Sunday to help us raise funds for the animals!!

Special thanks to the lovely humans who brought us hot coffee, baked treats and delicious chocolates!

And they just keep coming….

Another Momma …. Another late night call
A pregnant dog in distress needing emergency surgery … she had waited too long for surgery and her puppies were in distress… could we help ?
So please welcome Momma who survived surgery (thankfully cuz we just couldn’t take another loss of a momma) but is still in critical care
She had 14 puppies but sadly only 7 survived, the good news is that at this time they seem to be doing ok
A HUGE thank you to WAVES Emergency Hospital staff!!

We are asking for your help for two things here
1) If anyone is able to foster mom and pups PLEASE message us with a phone number FOSTER FOUND!!!!
2) With two momma and multiple emergency surgeries we are asking for donations..you can donate at www.victoriahumanesociety.com/donate
Keep your fingers crossed for this mom and babies and our other 10 orphaned pups!
