After taking a picture of Enola’s babies this morning, I tried to get an updated picture of Dixie’s babies. She did such a good time pulling fur, I had a hard time digging them all out! Plus they’re a lot more squirmy and jumpy now since day 1 🙂

I was curious to see how the pink ones were looking. It appears one has quickly turned gray, but the other 4 are still much lighter. Maybe frosty or rew?! They are still very little so hard to tell yet, but it’s always fun to check!

As of this morning we have some new babies! Enola gave us this cute litter (which I believe has 7 kits if I found everyone for the photo). We have been having a hard time breeding her to Slasher. Not sure if she just doesn’t like him, or if his age is starting to show, so she was line bred to her brother Sherlock (he’s our only other buck currently and she needed to be bred asap). They say line breeding, especially brother/sister, can bring out both the best and the worst traits. Fingers crossed that these babies take on all the cute traits 🤞🏼

Dixie 🧡 our reliable sweet girl went right on schedule and had some babies today! She did break her habit of 6 babies and became an overachiever with 8! She was bred to Sherlock, our Sable Chinchilla buck. So excited to watch them grow 😊

Hey guys! Easter is over and these cuties are no longer needed up at Windy Willow Farm

EDIT: All bunnies have found new homes. Thank you for all the interest! I will be sure to post when we have Mini Lops ready :) We also just bred Eve to Waylon (AKA Birthday Cake the REW Continental Giant) to try our hand at mixed breed giant babies!

Unfortunately, our Mini Lop does did not take the last round we bred them. It was so nice yesterday, I decided to try again. I saw Sherlock tip off of both Dixie and Tenne, so I have hope for those two girls! Enola is still being stubborn and I did not see our old man Slasher tip, but I will try again today.

In addition to breeding, I cleaned up their cages, trimmed everyone's toenails, and weighed them. Happy to announce that everyone is under 6.5 lbs! Glad winter didn't fatten them up like usual 😂

I will post some photos of the Flemish Giant babies soon. Of the 7, we have 6 girls and 1 boy. They are very big and very friendly already :)

Life has been crazy, so hopefully and update will come again sooner than later.

Long time since our last post! Downsizing has felt amazing. We can focus more on the few rabbits we have left and enjoy the smaller stress load, especially during winter. We just cleaned all the cages now that it is warmer again, and hopefully we will have some Mini Lop babies soon.

We do however have Flemish Giant babies! Eve was due when it was of course extremely cold. She lives in a large hutch outside, which we keep loaded with hay for her, but it wasn't going to cut it for the babies. We got a temporary cage for her in our shop, and she delivered 7 kits. All are doing amazing and growing like weeds :) They are even bigger now, but these are just the photos I have. All babies are chestnut like their dad Earl. Excited to watch them continue to grow and before we know it, look for new homes!

PENDING/SOLD: New Zealand pair, Twilight, Unnamed Chinchilla buck

It has been a while, and unfortunately, we are posting to offer up some rabbits for a big downsize! We have already parted with quite a few rabbits the past couple of months, and this should be the final big group. Once these are gone, it will leave us with just 3 Mini Lop does and 2 bucks. We are going to take some time away from the rabbits, and eventually build our herd again with less rabbits, but higher quality. We plan to breed the 3 does we keep for spring babies for some open shows and for 4-Hers.

Whatever is not spoken for by 11/23 will be taken to our cull buyer. We plan to go to Mason City Iowa on 11/29 for the show (Or possibly just to visit) and can bring bunnies down with us. Otherwise, they are located in Northfield MN. paie

Got the whole barn deep cleaned yesterday and it's making me like being out with the bunnies again! We were experiencing a bit of a fly problem due to several bunnies enjoying flipping over water pans. We decided to try barn lime to help absorb moisture and combat odor, so fingers crossed it keeps working well :)

Our two litters of bunnies are doing great. Buffy still has all 4 and Dixie lost one leaving her with 5. So excited to see that some of the bunnies are skipping the airplane ear stage, which makes me believe they might have some nice wide heads coming!

We plan to attend the Mason City show in November, and hopefully the Friday night Mini Lop Specialty as well if we can get off work. Unfortunately, with all the wedding stuff going on we will be missing the state show in Hutchinson, but we are sending good luck to all those who will be going!

Things have stayed slower at the rabbit barn, but it looks like Sherlock made some exciting news happen this past week.....

Things have stayed slower at the rabbit barn, but it looks like Sherlock made some exciting news happen this past week... two litters sired by him! There were a couple other does bred that either have not taken, or are holding on extra long. This is also a little appreciation post for our doe Dixie! She consistently gets bred, consistently kindles on day 31, and consistently gives us 6 babIes! We love a consistent reliable queen 👑 Dixie was a doe Uri let me get from Feia Farms' as a 10 month anniversary gift, and we just celebrated 3 years together and now have a wedding 45 days away!

Checked my notes and realized these guys are already 9 weeks old now! We pulled out the moms, made some initial culls, and these are now the juniors we have to grow out from our June litters. We have been working on shorter bodies and shorter shoulders, which we are definitely getting closer to with this group, but we kinda lost the fat heads 😭 Still very excited to see how these ones all mature! The photos do not do them justice... they are very full feeling and seem to pose much better when I put my camera away! 🤦‍♀️ Also if anyone is confident on what colors we have here feel free to comment and let me know! I feel like a lot have chocolate-y hints to them, but I am wondering if that is just me loving chocolate and hoping for it 😂
